SEPTEMBER 1972 Page 3 - CROSSROADS Alumnus Profile WALT TAGGART Professor of Law ■ I . :: Walt makes a point In his conversation. Born in 1943, Walt Taggart came to the Abbey in 1961. Three and a half years later (without attending any summer session), he was graduated in the top five percent of his class. Majoring in philosophy and minoring in business, he was distinguished by more than academic ex cellence. A member of the honor society Delta Epsilon Sigma, Walt was also vice president of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, vice-chairman of the Student Government Judicial Board, a member of Who’s Who Among Students in American Univer sities and Colleges, and the manager of the varsity basketball team. Upon leaving the Abbey he did public relations work for the Buick division of the General Motors Corporation in New York City. Then in 1965, he began law study at Villanova University Law School. He soon became research assistant to Professor Donald Giannella, editor of Religion and the Pubiic Order. Starting as a staff member of the Villanova Law Review in 1966, Walt became Article and Book Review Editor in 1967. He was graduated number one in a class of 128. From 1968 to 1970 he worked as law clerk to the Honorable John P. Fullam. In ’70 he was offered an Assistant Professorship on the faculty of Villanova. Now an associate professor, Walt acts as advisor to the Law Review, sits as a member of the curriculum committee (the youngest of the five' man committee) and teaches Property, Products and' the Consumer, and Land Financing. He is also special assistant to the Honorable John P. Fullam of the United States District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania for the purposes of the Penn Central Reorganization Proceedings. They were on their way home to Hillsdale, N. J. from seeing their daughter in Alabama. ’31 Joe Ripley is radio newscaster, announcer and producer at WALK, Patehogue, and WNCN in New York City. He and Jean and their three children live in Massapequa. ’34 Joseph Burton is Clerk of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. He and Mary and their two children live in Silver Spring, Md. He received his law degree from Catholic University. ’35 Tim Kearns is assistant manager of Speed Car Wash in Augusta, Ga. ’37 -- James Cronin is sales representative with Mercury Motor Express in Atlanta. He and Margaret and their two children live in Atlanta. ’38 - John Lippard is a land scape architect and president of National Aerials Surveys in Charlotte. ’39 -- Charles Jenkins owns Frank Jenkins & Associates, Manufacturers’ Representative, in Columbus, Ga. Joe Martin owns Martin Mortgage Co. in Bellaire, Texas. He Kay and their three children live in Bellaire. ’40 -- Hobart Joost is in the real estate business in Jacksonville, Fla. He and Rita have seven children. Earl Marshall is Athletic Director, coach and teacher in the Riverside Unified School District, Califorhia. ’41 -- Charles Miller is president of Investment & Financial Management, Inc. in Norfolk, Va. He and Ruth have five children. Walter Gillis is state industrial inspector with the Department of Labor and Industries in Massachusetts. John Kemp is general agent for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co. in Pine Bluff, Ark. ’42 Bob Thalman is head football coach at VMI in Lexington, Va. Lewis McGehee is district sales manager for Home Beneficial Life in Fredericksburg, Va. Clarence Armstrong is with the U.S. Postal Service in Belmont. Asa Hosmer is regional sales manager for Union Pump Co. in Woodbury, N.J. ’43 - Mitchell Baddour is products specialist, agricultural packaging, with Continental Can Co. in Goldsboro, N.C. He and Doris have four children. ’44 - Frank Solar! is Director of Guidance at Hermitage High School in Richmond, Va. He was graduated from St. Benedict’s College, received his master’s from Catholic University and worked towards the doctorate at the University of Virginia. He and Joan have five children. Ray Smith is sales manager for Lyles Chevrolet Co. in High Point, N.C. He and Norma have three children. ’47 -- Dr. Glenn Watson is a psychologist with the Dede Wallace Mental Health Clinic in Nashville, Tenn., and lives in Forest City, N.C. ’48- Norman Moore is a dentist in Norfolk, Va., where he and Jeanne and their four children live. Neil Rice is with the FBI in Detroit, Michigan. George JFreeman is an attorney in Goldsboro, N.C., where he and Jane and their four children live. Charles Wethington is marketing representative for Columbia Gas of West Virginia. He and Martha Ann and their three children live in Huntington. ’50-- Curt Davis is in the construction business in Miramar, Fla. Leo Wade is with the FBI in Richmond. He and Doris have five children. ’54" John Chesser is with Sears, Roebuck & Co. in Lan caster, S.C. He and Rose have four children. ’55" Father Francis Moesleln is pastor of Holy Spirit Church in Jacksonville, N.C. Frank Rozelle is principal of Northwest Junior High School in Charlotte. ’56- Bill Marter is district sales manager for Hallmark Cards, Ambassador Division, and he and Dolores and their two children live in Manchester, Mo. Dr. Richard Bird is a Radiologist in Charlotte. Forrest Rockett, his two children, Jimmy, eight, and David, eleven visited the College in July. Forrest is Executive Vice President of Lauderdale Beach Bank in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Maurice Theberge is an orthodontist in Bradford, Mass. Alan Jones is an attorney with the Department of Commerce. He and Bootsey and their six children live in Bowie, Md. ’57" William Beam is sales representative for Groves Thread Co. in Gastonia. He and Anne have three children. Dick Bain is county administrator for the County of Goochland, Va. He and Helen have three children and live in Manakin, Va. ’59" Donald Ford is in surance claims manager for Transport Insurance Co. He and Bonnie and their three children live in Decatur,^Ga. Brian Maher is an attorney in Bridgeport Conn. Charles Blanchard is vice- president of C.W.
