Editors Note After a year of anonymity we’ve finaiiy decided to raise our heads and admit responsibiiity for CROSSROADS. We’ve found it serves many purposes besides reading, and hope you too can find a piace for it in your home. The staff consists of me, Jim Giermanski, editor; Dr. George Herndi, assistant editor; Aiien Morris, iayout editor; and Father James Soiari, O.S.B., coiumn editor. A motiey crew with which to work, they nonetheiess have in their own way contributed, however slightiy, to its production. It is a truism that a publication is only as good as its staff ~ so if it isn’t any good ~ tell them. Oh yes, thanks also to Barbara Zinke, my secretary who types and takes Pittman shorthand. J.G. Jim received his A.B. in 1961 from Belmont Abbey and is scheduled to receive his M. Ed. from UNC-Charlotte this spring. A former marine, dean of students, and cop, he is presently director of public relations and alumni, instructor in the physical education department and swimming coach. His ar ticles have appeared in Com monweal, Renasscence, and Allen Morris, Layout Editor, works on a new issue of CROSSROADS. James Giermanski, Editor, checks copy for a future issue. EDITOR George received his A.B. from The Catholic University of America, in 1950; his M.A. from U.N.C.-Chapel Hill in 1955; and his Ph.D. “with distinction” from U.N.C. - Chapel Hill in 1955. A Danforth Associate, he was a fellow of the Southeastern Medieval and Renaissance In stitute, and a Humanities Fellow of the Cooperative Program in the Humanities (Duke University and U.N.C. - Chapel Hill). His recent book, The High Design was the winner of the 1969 South Atlantic Modern Language Association Award and as reviewed by Choice is a “superb, authoritative study...” and “... valuable complement to...” selected works of E.M. W. Tillyard, W. Farnham and R. Ornstein. His articles have appeared in Liberal Education, NEA Journal, D.E.S. Bulletin, and the international journal, Dublin Review. He has also edited the Report on Organized Crime, for the Attorney’s General Office, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He received his Ph.D. from Catholic University. Frank Creery is Sales Director of In surance and Investments for J. Monte Williamson & Associates in Richmond, where he and Alicia and their nine children live. ’54-Joe Sheenan is Chief Chemist with Stauffer Chemical Co. in Levittown, Pa. Carroll Thomas is Director of Management Services with Ervin Industries, Inc. in Charlotte. He received the masters in marketing from Cornell University. Robert Dunham is Mechanical Engineer with R.S. Noonan, Inc. in Greenville, S.C. Belton Patty is Vice President and Cashier of Idaho Bank & Trust Co. He and Gabrielle and their three children live in Pocatello. ’55-Dlck McCluney is phar maceutical salesman with Pfizer, Inc. He and Jean and their three children live in Virginia Beach. Jake Farmer owns a truck leasing business; he and Faye and their three children live in Decatur, Ga. Matthew Donahue has his own realty company in Washington, D.C. He received the masters in business administration from American University. ’56-Herbert Seism is Area Relocation Coordinator with the Department of Housing and Community Development in Baltimore, where he, Mary Rose, and their five children live. Anthony Muller is Zone Manager with Ford Parts Division, Ford Marketing Corp., in Charlotte. ’57-Thomas O’Brien teaches at Missouri Military Academy ir Mexico, Mo. Gordon Broome is Director of Research and Development with American & Efird Mills in Mt. Holly. He received his Masters in Textile Chemistry at Johns Hopkins Institutes of Textile technology of the University of Delaware. Floyd Day is in Manufacturing Engineering with IBM in Raleigh, N.C. Terrell Harris is Accountant and Plant Controller with Homelite in Gastonia. . A.C. Hollar is Zone Manager for Ford Motor Co; he and Jane and their two children live in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Father Augustine Cunningham teaches and counsels at ' Benedictine High School in Richmond. He received his Masters from the U. of Virginia.
