Page 6 - CROSSROADS - Monday, November 20, 1972 Booster Club Has Good Start Founded in 1971, the purposes for which the Abbey Booster Club is organized are to assist and promote by donations the athletic program of Belmont Abbey College. Donations will be used primarily to fund athletic scholarships and to supplement the operating budget of the Department of Athletics. The intercollegiate athletic program is a major source of unity and wholesome en tertainment for alumni, students, faculty, and friends. An objective of the Abbey Booster Club is to encourage and help provide promotional programs which will encourage enthusiasm in the athletic program of Belmont Abbey College. Members of the Abbey Booster Club want Belmont Abbey College to compete on an even basis with other colleges, and it is through efforts such as this one that this can be achieved most effectively. Booster club membership entitles you to the following: $ 1 5.00-Indi vidua 1 Mem bership: Car decal, one season ticket in basketball, athletic schedules, bulletins from coac hes, membership card. Name in basketball program. $30.00-Family Membership: Car decal, membership card, athletic schedules, bulletins from coaches, admittance of wife, husband, and children to all regularly scheduled home athletic events. Name in basketball program. $100.00-ABBEY 100 CLUB: Membership card, car decal, athletic schedules, bulletins from coaches, admittance of wife, husband and children to all regularly scheduled home athletic events plus two season tickets in basketball. Person may use these tickets as they so desire. Name in basketball program. $250.00-$500.00-GOLDEN CRUSADER CLUB Membership is open to all persons or firms donating $250.00 or more annually to the scholarship program. Each member receives the same general privileges as the 100 Club, plus two additional season tickets in basketball. Name in basketball program. $1,000.00 and over SCHOLARSHIP Membership is open to all persons or firms donating $1,000.00 or more annually to the scholarship program of the Belmont Abbey Athletic Boosters Club. Each member receives the same general privileges as the Golden Crusader Club, plus two ad ditional season tickets. Name in basketball program. Zinke, Jr. Willie Doscher, Captain, Giermanski Hoping For Successful Season The Abbey swimming team is showing potential for the coming season. Withthefirstmeet just a few weeks away. Coach Jim Giermanski is working his team to improve their record from last year. Early in September the team concentrated on endurance and strengthening the heart with exercises, weight lifting, and cross-country running. The team is working out now in the pool with a combination of sprints and endurance work. Using the pulse rates as his method. Coach Giermanski has improved the strength and ability of his team tremendously. The season will consist of ten meets, four home and four away. The small but impressive schedule consists of the following teams: Wake Forest, Clemson, Emory, Davidson, Augusta, UNC-Asheville, and J. C. Smith University, all of which are worthy opponents. Members of the team are: Captain, Willie Doscher, 20, a junior from New York, N.Y.; Don Burkhardt, 18, a freshman from Westwood, N.J.; Kevin Burke, 18, a freshman from Richmond Va.; Tom Kraemer, 19, a sophomore from Tampa, Fla.; Mike Miller, 20, a senior from Englishtown, N.J.; Ray Schamback, 20, a junior from Guatemala, Central America; Carl Stambler, 18, a freshman from Bethesda, Md.; Joe Sweeney, 20, a junior from Somerville, N.J.; and Bob Tesco, 17, a freshman, from Winston- Salem, North Carolina.
