Walter Kennedy, who were married in Symmes Memorial Chapel, Camp Greenville, Cedar Mountain, N.C., on June 9. John Murphy is a stock broker in Roanoke, Virginia. Craig Whitt is now out of the Navy, where he was an officer on a nuclear submarine, and has been ac cepted by the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry for the coming year. Congratulations to Edie and Tom Thayer on the arrival of Christine on June 19. Don Walthall is with the General Accounting Office in Washington. He and Elizabeth have one son. Tommy. Thanks for your note, Adele and Ed Schiller, and congratulations to Ed on his promotion to manager of quality control (he is also chief chemist) with Photo Corporation of America Labs in Matthews. He and Adele (Caulfield - SHC) are living in Charlotte. ’70 - Congratulations to Dan Felgel, who graduated from Pitt Dental School on May 19. Congratulations to Cris and Bill Jordan on the arrival of Kelly Cristin on May 12. We just received the announcement that Frank Tassone is now associated with Daniel A. Naughton in the general practice of law in Jacksonville, Florida. Conuratulations! ’71 - Joe Mertes stopped by the Abbey in April. He is working for an investment company in Winston-Salem. Frank DeLuca teaches sixth grade in Fairfax County, Virginia. Tom Colla is customer service manager for a Direct Selling company and lives in Minotola, N.J. Congratulations and best wishes to Chris Caver and Frances Amelia Spinks, who were married July 6 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Augusta, Ga. Mike Fitzsimmons is in graduate school (history) at UNC-Chapel Hill. ’72 - Congratulations and best wishes to Hilda Woodward and George Seargeant, who were married May 25 in the Assembly of God Church in Warrenton, Virginia. Jim Heffernan and his wife visited the Abbey in June. Jim is with Delta Air Lines in Chicago. Mike “Floyd” Pat terson is teaching first, sixth, seventh, and eighth grade special reading in Philadelphia. He is also Athletic Director in his school and coached the basketball team to the city championship. Dante Castrodale, was recently promoted to safety engineer with Vecellio & Grogan Construction Co. in Beckley, W. Va., where he and his wife Sherry live. ’73 - Michael Walsh is with Travelers Insurance, in Charlotte, where he and Mary live. Enjoyed the letter from Mark Schulte, which Father Cuthbert let me read. Mark and Virginia Silverhorn were married on June 9 and will live in Louisville, Ky., until he graduates from the U. of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1977. Congratulations and best wishes to Penelope Kay Staley and David Holley, who were married June 22 by Abbot Ed mund in Belmont Abbey Cathedral. Also to Janice Yelton and Myron Duckworth, who were married June 23 in Catawba Heights Baptist Church. ’74 - David Bowers stopped by for a visit. He is with Good Wiii Publishers working mostly in the Florida and Kentucky areas. Virgil Steele has been awarded a $4,600 research assistantship by the Department of Animal Sciences «t Woohinotnn Jttnte University, where he will be in graduate school. Don Dillard has accepted a position in the sales department of Wrenn Brothers in Charlotte. Joe O’Brien is in the management training program of Dominion Bankshares in Falls Church, Va. Father Gabriel Stupasky, O.S.B. - Class of 1944 1 — \ --H V Father JosepI Abbey Jubilarians Honored At Concelebrated Mass And Banquet On June 3, the Abbey honored four jubilarians: Father Joseph Tobin, who celebrated his 50th year of ordination to the priesthood, and Fathers Dennis Byrne, Raymond Geyer, and Matthew McSorley, who celebrated the 25th anniversary of their ordination. The’ occasion was marked by a concelebrated Mass at which Abbot Edmund congratulated the four, and by a banquet attended by the Benedictine Community and by family and friends of the jubilarians, all four of whom are well known to many of our alumni. Father Raymond is Director of Admissions, and Father Matthew teaches in the English Department. Father Joseph taught mathematics and physics and for many years operated the Abbey Press; he is now Assistant Chancelor in the Diocese of Charlotte. Father Dennis was procurator at the Abbey and taught Biology in the Prep School; he is now Chaplain at the VA Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland.
