Wriston has had a marvelous career in New York for the past twenty years, and since 1970 has been director of public relations and assistant to the president of the Julliard School. ’49“ Thomas Bergin, Sr. is assistant manager of a rental company in Hicksville, N.Y. Thanks for your letter, Gene Santos. All of us here pray that your daughter Shavon comes through the operation and is fine. ’50“ Paul Loehr is with Aetna Life & Casualty Co. and lives in Fairfax, Va. ’56“ Tommy Cannon is an insurance agent in Spar tanburg, S.C. ’57“ Our sympathy to Louis ProRmentis, whose house burned Christmas night, in which Rutger’s football star Raymond Kinch died. ’59“ Jim Babb has been elected to the Board of Trustees of Wix Corporation in Gastonia. Jim is executive vice president of Jefferson-Pilot Broadcasting Co. (WBT and WBTV). It was good to see Louie O’Gorman when he stopped by the College on May 24. He is athletic director and guidance counsellor at Jef ferson Davis Academy in Blackville, S.C., and he and Gail and their three children, Farrell, Kevin and Maureen, live in Denmark, S.C. Norma Jean Grayson, will be leaving her job as a teacher at Mt. Holly Junior High School to become assistant principal next year at Cramerton Elementary School. Congratulations, Norma! ’61“ James Guest is an aircraft insurance adjuster and lives in Winter Haven, Fla. ’62- Congratulations to Sister Mary Thomas Burke, RSM, Ph.D., head of guidance and counselling in the College of Human Development at UNC-Charlotte, who received the B’nai B’rith Women’s Human Relations Award on February 26 at a “High Tea” at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Charlotte. ’63 - Bob Siebert isanattomeyin Jamaica, N.Y. ’64- Bryan Cavan is an attorney in Dunwoody, Georgia, and is coroner for Dekalb County. Brian Tisdall is with the State Department in Washington, D.C. C. Patrick McGraw has been promoted to research associate professor of neurology at Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. Patrick received the M.S. (’67) degree from East Texas State University and the Ph.D. degree (’69) from Texas A&M University. He joined the Bowman Gray faculty in 1973, coming from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, where he was an assistant professor of physiology and instructor in neurology. His research involves monitoring intracranial pressure and studying acute care for patients with cerebrovascular disease. McGray recently received a Founders Award from the North Carolina Heart Association for his service to the Research Review Subcommittee. ’65“ Nina and Ted Bremekamp are now living in Jupiter, Fla., and Ted has opened a new restaurant. The Ancient Mariner, in North Palm Beach. Glenn Boone called Jack Hanahan to tell him he has accepted a new position with the Corps of Engineers in Wilmington, N.C., where he will be chief of the Hydrographic and Topographic Survey. He and Connie and the children moved to the Wilmington area in May and are happy to be “close to home and closer to the ski areas.” Congratulations to Arthur Prosser who has been promoted to vice president of First-Citizens Bank and Trust Co., Brevard, N.C. ’66“ Frank Ruszala is a salesman and lives in Liverpool, N.Y. Roy King is assistant to the president of Wrenn Brothers, Inc. in Charlotte. Roy is also a member of the College’s Board of Advisors. ’67“ Skip Bosweii is employed with the Lafrance Division of Riegel Textiles in corporate sales. He and Cathy and their two children, Brian, eight, and Crissy, by Mrs. Mary Cook three, presently live in Johnston, S.C., but are planning to relocate in the High Point-Hickory area to be near the furniture industry. He plans to be in the Belmont area every seven to eight weeks, so we’re looking forward to your visits. Skip. Congratulations and best wishes to Susan Naylon and Barry Henfey, who were married February 28. Barry is assistant manager of Carmel Country Club in Charlotte. Congratulations to Dr. Kevin Soden, who has been named a diplomat of the American Board of Family Practice. He is now certified in the specialty of family practice. He and Hope and their three children live in Belmont. Bill Dealy is sales representative in Ethincon, Inc., a division of Johnson & Johnson, and lives in Marietta, Ga. ’68 “ Congratulations to Kays Gary (LHD), who received the coveted Distinguished Citizenship Award of the Charlotte Civitan Club. Other honorary Abbey alumni who have received this award are Bonnie Cone (LL.D. ’62)in 1965 and I.D. Blumenthal (LHD ’78) in 1977. Jerry Rabadeau is soccer coach at a high school in New Jersey. ’69“ Donald Walthall is supervisory auditor with GAO and Uves in Dale City, Va. Robert Dyar is a captain in the Marine Corps stationed at Ft. Sill, Ok. Congratulations to Jim Obi and his wife on the arrival of James Jacob on February 22. Jim is in financial management with IBM in Lexington, Ky. ’70“ Mike Cunning is a computer programmer and lives in Miami. Congratulations to Barbara and Chester Zukowski on the arrival of Benjamin Joseph on February 22. They are enjoying living in Puerto Rico where Chester is district manager in the Caribbean area for Sharing & Plough Pharmaceuticals. Enjoyed the letter from Roger Niosi, which Dr. Farley let me read. He will soon be appointed an inspector in the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles. Hope your surgery was successful, Jim. John Alexander has been elected assistant vice president of American Heritage Life Investment Corp. John holds the MBA from the University of North Florida, is a member of the American Society for Personnel Administration, a Fellow of the Life Management Institute, and serves as vice president and a director of Theatre Jacksonville. Don Betts is with the Washington Diplomats, a professional soccer team in D.C. ’71- Brendon Soden is now living in Washington, D.C. He is with the Secret Service and assigned to the vice president’s detail. Enjoyed the letter from Bruce Martin. He has recently become the assistant personnel director for Richmond Memorial Hospital, and he and wife Lois and children Barry and Kristy live in Rich mond. Bruce received his MBA from the University of South Carolina. Thanks, Bruce, for sending news of other Richmond alumni. Bruce told us that Eddie Ross and Francis Ferguson are both with the Henrico County Police Dept. Guy Piche is a corporate credit manager and lives in Gastonia. Congratulations and best wishes to Sandra Lee Thomas and Andrew John Wanto, who were married on May 21 in the United Church of Christ, Congregational, Medina, Ohio. Mike Fitzsimmons will be spending four months in Paris, France, doing research in reference to lawyers of the French revolutionary period for his dissertation. He is a can didate for the Ph.D. in History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His wife Theresa will remain in Chapel Hill. Congratulations and best wishes to Edward Louis Alton and Holly Owen Henley, who were married January 7. He is employed by Southeastern Foam Products of Conyers, Ga., where they are living. Richard Hoefling is with a law firm in Washington and lives in Vienna, Va. ’72- Paul Jones is a social worker and lives in Collingswood, N.J. Francis Ferguson is with the Herrico County Police Department in Richmond, Va. 4lay Cowling has joined A.H. Robins Company, Richmond- based pharmaceutical firm, as a medical service representative. He has been assigned to the Capital Division and will be working the Salem, Va. area. ’73“ Thanks for your letter, Michael Walsh, telling us that you and Mary (SHC ’71) attended a reception at the White House given for President Carter’s grassroots supporters who worked for him during the Florida Primary. They met the President and First Lady and even got a chance to dance in the White House. Congratulations to Jim Schwab who has been promoted to manager of the Charlotte office of Fox Morris Placement Consultants. He and his wife Diane live in Charlotte. ’74“ It was good to see Willie Doscher and his wife Maureen when they were here for graduation. Willie is with INA in Chicago. Congratulations and best wishes to Gail Feeney and Pat Coyle, who were married June 6 in St. Mary’s Church, Alexandria, Va. Pat is a program specialist with the Department of Housing-Urban Development in Washington and they j|6ide in Alexandria. Tom McKenna, Marty Moran and Mike Holland (’75) are with Marsh McLennon Insurance Brokerage in New York City. Joe Gerrety is a marketing representative with IBM in Washington, D.C., and lives in McLean, Va. ’75 Ed Burns is with the New York Telephone Com pany. He and Margaret live in Queens. Eric Borysiewicz and Tony Sessa (’73) visited the Abbey in early June on their 650 motorcycles. Eric is with Rite Aid Corporation and has been promoted to manager. He has just opened a new mall pharmacy store in Asheville, N.C. Tony has just returned from a two year voyage to the Carrihean, South Pacific and New Zealand. They wish to extend greetings to their fellow “Hurt’n Dudes.” ’76- Thomas Gillespie will appear in the 1978 edition of Outstanding Young Men of America. He was chosen for his outstanding professional achievement, superior leadership ability and exceptional service to the com munity. He is a member of the Gaston County Board of Elections and Lowell Jaycees and a former member of the Lowell Recreation Committee. Congratulations! Congratulations also, and very best wishes to Nancy Jackson and Jack Murphy, who were married May 28 in the Alumni House on the UNC-Greensboro campus, where Jack is working on his Masters. He is also em ployed by Guilford College in High Point, where they are living. It was good to see Chris and Sue (SHC ’76) Mc Donald during their visit to the Abbey in April. Chris is a 'lieutenant with the United States Marines. He is stationed in California and living in Santa Barbara. Congratulations to Bob Temple and Deborah Lampke (’78) who were married April 29 in the Abbey Church. Bob is employed by General Medical of Atlanta, Ga. ’77“ John Pulverenti is a management intern with the Aberdeen, N.J. Township and lives in Hazlet. . Bill Barrood is a realtor in New Brunswick, N.J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. is at Holloman AFB, New Mexico, with the Air Force. Bill Soussi has opened the Alternative Sports Store, dealing mostly with soccer equipment and supplies, in Charlotte. He will also be helping Coach Kennedy with the soccer team here next year. Mosadak Soussi is working in England in the family import-export business. ’78“ Bart Turner is a catalog inventory control specialist with J.C. Penney Co. in New York and lives in Mattituck. John Mosca is an account representative with Motorola in Knoxville, Tenn., selling two-way radios to police and fire departments.
