February 1979 - CROSSROADS - Page 3 ALUMNI NEWS - ALUMNI NEWS ALUMNI NEWS ’23 - Paul Ford is executive vice president of the Bank of Belmont and has been a memb^ of Belmont Abbey College’s Board of Advisors since 1956. ’25 - Maurice Langhome is retired and lives in Mathews, Virginia. ’32 - It was good to have news of Daniel Mooney when he wrote to Father Martin and Father Hugh. He is semi- retired and living in North Palm Beach, Florida, where he is a tomis instructor. ’35 - Dennis Myers is retired and living in Charlotte. ’40-Roger Estridge is assistant plant manager for American & EBrd Mills in Mt. Holly, where he and Eva live. Bill Baum is a salesman and lives in Elizabeth, Pa. ’42 - Father Jerome Powers is pastor of the Catholic Church in Union, S.C. ’47 - Candida Uriaga is a salesman for ceramic tUe mosaic, and he and Elena live in West Miami. ’48 - Charles Wethington is gas utilization rqiresen- tative with Columbia Gas Co. in Columbus, Ohio, and he and his wife Marcie and their three children live in Huntington, West Virginia. ’49 - Dr. R.G. Patterson is a podiatrist in Asheville, N.C. ’51 - Jack Moody is a writer and lives in Dayton, Ohio. ’52 - Robert Yacobi is a judge in Newport News, Virginia. Joseph McMahon is with E.I. DuPont DeNemours and lives in Laurence Harbor, New Jersey. ’55 - NesUt Hollis is principal of East Gaston School and lives in Stanley, N.C. Eugene Knsterer is Director of the Charlotte Little Theatre. It was good to see Jim Ros and his wife Pat at the alumni dinner in Savannah, where Jim is now with Union Canq) Cot- poration. ’56 - Bill Boorman is retired from the U.S. Navy and lives in San Francisco. Maurice Theberge is an or thodontist and lives in Haverhill, Maine. Jerrell Mock and his wife attended the alumni dinner in Savannah, where Jm'ell is with Fleming Supply Company. ’57 - James Dafhron is in (diarmaceuti^ sales in Chesapeake, Virginia. A1 Taglieri is an attorney in Kildeer, Illinois. Bob Curran is an attorney in Newport News, Virginia. ’58 - Ralph Rowland is with the Budd Company, Trailer Division, and lives in Gastonia. John Santos is a real estate apiH'aiser with First Federal Savings & Loan Association in Oiarleston, S.C. and lives in Mt. Pleasant. Thanks for your letter, Ted Nnlden. Charles Bridges has berai named division vice president of consumer i»wlucts sales with Scott Paper Company, and he and Helen and their two dau^ters live in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. ’59 - Eugene Manion teadies in the Mecklenburg County School System and lives in Charlotte. Joseph Romeo is an accountant and lives in Manassas, Virginia. Bill Hiter is an estimator (you didn’t tell me the name of the company. Bill) and lives in Ridgeway, Virginia. Dr. John Munzenrider is a radiation therapist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and he and Elizabeth and their three children, John Lucas, Karen Ann, and EUen Riley, live in Norwood. ’60 - It was good to see Richard Kovacs when he visited the Abbey in December. ’61 - Thomas Stewart is with Smith Chevrolet Co. in Gastonia. Congratulations to Father Jerry Hardy, who was designated Monsignor as Chaplain to His Holiness on December 15. Monsigncr Hardy is in the Atlanta Archdiocese. Steve Hodulik is regional sales manager for Blue Bell, Inc. in Cincinnati. ’62 - Reuben Rigel is an actuary in CTayton, Missouri. Pete Leonard is an insurance agent in Jacksonville, Florida. ’59 - Our deepest sympathy to the family of retired Lt. Comdr. Michael O’Connell, who died in Augusta, Georgia, on January 5. Two of his classmates, David Foley and Tom Hennessey, attended the funeral. Mike was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars and is survived by his mother, his wife, two sons and two daughters. ’63 - David Lowrance sells specialty and dietetic food and lives in Fairhope, Ala. Ronald Roberts is self- employed in Charlotte. Larry Davis is case manager for the IRS and lives in Pineville, N.C. It was wonderful to By Mrs. Mary Cook see Sister Rose Gregory Ryan when she stopped by f cr a visit on December 5. She, Brother Gregory and I had a good time reminiscing about the days when she was here in sdiool. Sister is now in Holy Trinity Mission in Alabama. Come back to North Carolina, Sister ; we miss you! Congratulations to Frank Parker, who has been awarded a Board^f Governors’ Faculty Doctoral Study Assignment for 1979. Frank is assistant professor in the College of Human Development and Learning at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bemie Brennan is {woperty manager for Lane Enterprises in Caldwell, New Jersey, and lives in Denville. ’64-Robert Ryan is a salesman with (Ood Will, Inc. in Gastonia. Donald Parsmis teaches sixth grade social studies and English in Endwell, New York. Charles Powers is an attorney in Raldgh, N.C. Ed Buttimer is a partner in a law firm in Savannah (]ieorgia. It was good to see him and his wife Rochelle at the alumni dinner in Savannah. Tom Sullivan is an attorney in Silver Spring, Maryland. Ray Cloninger is secretary and assistant treasurer of Crown Converting Co. in Gastonia. Nelson (Toby) Bradshaw, Jr. has been named district marketing manager, a new post, for Hoechst’s Charlotte office. He will be responshle for sales-marketing ac tivities in the apparel and industrial areas for the Southeast. ’65 - The Class of ’65 was well represented at the recoit alumni dinner in Savannah on January 3. Tom James, Mike McDmough and Mike Lanahan attended. Tom is manager of John S. James (hmpany in Savan nah. The company, which has offices in Atlanta, Jacksonville, (Charleston, Knoxville, and Savannah, is a Custom House Broker and Foreign Freight Forwarder. Tom, his wife Jerrie, and their three children live in Savannah. Thanks, Tom, for your time and efforts in arranging the alumni dinner there. Mike McDonough is manager of the Hepage Company in Savannah. IVOke Lanahan is vice president of Lanahan Lumber Company in JackscHiville, where he and his wife and four children reside. Y. John Lee has been appointed assistant vice {X’esident of Employers Insurance of Wausau, and has responsibility for Employers’ marketing efforts thrwgh insurance brokerage firms. He joined the Wausau insurance organization in January 1977. Had a wonderful visit with Dennis Clare and his wife Lynn on January 4 and 5 when Dennis came to play in a squash tournament in Charlotte. It was his first visit bade to the Abbey in many years and we enjoyed showing him the many changes on campus since he was a soccer star here. Dennis is an attcaney in Louisville, Kentucky, and, he and Lynn have three children; Evie, nine, Colleen, seven, and Denny three. Reginald Wright is chief of the examination branch, U.S. Treasury - IRS in Bir mingham, Alabama. Enjc^ed visiting with Doug Wetmore when he stoi^ied by the College on December 13. Doug is part owner of Van Sumner, Inc., whidi builds tennis courts. He and Anita have three children, Doug junicH-, eleven, Sean, ten, and Shelley, six. Come again soon, Doug; it was great reminiscing with you. Charles Radimer is an industrial engineer with Grumman Aerospace CkxiMration in Bethpage, New York, and lives in Islip. Fred Santoiucito is cost accountant with National Controls-Airport in Santa Rosa, California Charles Hutchins is a partner in Hall, Hutchins & Company in Qover, S.C., and lives in Gastonia. Joe Raeth is in the Air Force in Ft. Myers, Virginia. ’66 - Eugene Deibel is a production supervisor in WUliamsville, New York. Pat Marotta teaches in Kendall Paik, New Jersey. Frank Ruszala is a salesman in Liverpool, New York. Bill Grandin is a systems analyst in Kendall Park, New Jersey. Congratulations on the arrival of Benjamin Michael on September 4. The Grandins have three other children: Billy, twelve, Jonathan, seven, and Daniel, two. Harvey Wallace is sales manager with Industrial Plastics in Birmingham, Alabama. Glenn Adams is a CPA and lives in Bessemer City, N.C. ’67 - Bennie Farmer owns a real estate firm in Savannah. He and wife Chnnie have two children, Jeff and Christy. Besides running his successful business, Bennie runs in marathons, collects antique cars, and helps area youth soccer programs. Jim James is a computer [x-ogrammer at the administrative computer center at the University of North Carolina at Green sboro. Gerald Lynch has his own business in Southampton, New York. Terrance O’Brien is an ac countant in Marietta, Georgia. Terrell Estes is a physician in Bristol, Tennessee. Stephen Keller is district sales engineer with American Sign & Indicator Corp. in Tallahassee, Florida, where he and his wife Blythe and son Ryan, four, live. Thanks for your note, Steve, and for all the kind words. Tom Alexander is district manager with Southern Bell and lives in Roswell, Georgia. Tom Maguire is sales manager (you didn’t give us the name of your company, Tom) and lives in New Providence, New Jersey. ’68 - Gerard Rabadeau teaches at St. Joseph High School in Fanwood, New Jersey. Thomas Hirsch is an attorney in Manasquan, New Jersey. John Stroupe is self-employed and lives in Bessemer City, N.C. John LaRocca is a financial analyst witli Federal Home Loan Bank Board and lives in Springfield, Virginia. Philip Kiefer is a special agent with the U.S. Secret Service and lives in Buffalo, New York. Carroll Royster is a CPA in Jamestown, N.C. William Whitley is a pharmacist in Richmond, Va. Congratulations to Dr. Ed Antosek, who has been certified a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. Ed is planning to return to Charlotte and Belmont the latter part of February to practice. Welcome home, Ed. John Farris is an automobile dealer (Crest Ford) in Rocky Mount, N.C. Eddie Blackwood is commercial representative with Duke Power Co. and he and Angela and their three sons live in Mt. Holly. Bernard Lange is production [danner with Reynolds Metals Clo. in Richmond. ’69 - Joseph Brady is with United Parcel Service and lives in Gambrills, Maryland. Joseph Whitt is a Naval dental officer until 1982 and is stationed at Camp Pen dleton, California. Richard Marchitelli is a real estate appraiser and owns his real estate business in West Islip, New York. James Kelley is an attorney in Alexandria, Va. Thanks for your letter. Chuck Collins, catching us ’ up on the news. Chuck and wife Pat (Rafferty, SHC ’71) have returned from a 14-month tour of duty in Japan, where Chuck was stationed with the USMC. 'Ihey are now in their new home in Jacksonville, N.C., where he is stationed at Camp Lejeune. Congratulations on the new addition to the family, Katharine Anne (Katie) bom November 1. They have another child, Jennifer Page, who is three years old. Brian Waldron is an agent with the FBI and lives in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Ted Fraune is general accounting manager for Northern Telcom, Inc. in Creedmoor, N.C., and he and his wife and son, An thony Theodore III "Trey”, who was born on August 4, live in Oxford. ’70 - Frank Aliota is head of an art and graphics department which was nominated for an emmy award in “Artistic Directions and Graphics.” A show he created won an emmy for “Instructional and Educational Programming. Frank lives in Boston. Larry Hartsell is a tax accountant with PCA International, Inc., and he and (Caroline live in Mt. Holly. John Nolan teaches history at Middlesex County Consolidated School in Edison, New Jersey, and lives in South Amboy. James Van Pelt is with Moore Insurance Associates, Inc. in Charlotte and lives in Gastonia. Donald Krafnick is finishing plant planning manager with Milliken & Co. in Bamwdl, S.C. Bill Oliver is manager, appliance parts and service (what’s the name of your company. Bill) in Huntsville, Alabama. Enjoyed the note from David McAlee. He spent two years in the Marines, was with Price, Water house & Co. for five years traveling all over the country, and is presently financial operational audits manager at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida in Jacksonville, where he and Jane (they have been married four years) live.
