’47-Paul Baxley is a general contractor in Cin-

’54-Bill Ach is microtext librarian at Wake Forest
[University; he and his wife Elizabeth live in Winston-

’55-Ed Gaddis is with Ford Motor Co. in Atlanta.
’56-Bill Marter is sales manager of Hallmark Cards
in Kansas City, Kan., and lives in Overland Park. It
was great to see Chuck Muller when he stopped by
for a visit on February 16. Chuck is computer
systems sales specialist with Ford, and he and Fran
live in Louisville where Fran is working on her
Master’s in education media. Fran was the guiding
light for the Wives Auxiliary here on campus when
we organized the Abbey wives during the 1950’s. Let
me hear from some of you. Would you like to have a
reunion?
’58-James Parnell is a sales engineer with U.S.
Gypsum and lives in Charlotte. Congratulations to
Charles Bridges, who has been appointed division
vice president of Scott Pajjer Co. to manage con
sumer products sales for its Packaged Products Divi
sion. He and Helen and their two children live in
'Newton Square, Pa.
’59-Morco Perez is a merchant in Marion, N.C.
Charles Richardson is a broker in Middletown,
N.J.
’60—Wriaton Thompson is district operations
manager of J.C. Penney Co. in Richmond.
’61-Congratulations to Anne and Steve Hodulik on
the arrival of their first daughter, Mary Anne, on
Christmas Day. They have three boys. Father John
baptized Mary Anne on February 10 in Cincinnati,
where Steve is district sales manager for Blue Bell.
John Hannan visited the Abbey in February. He is
marketing manager for Igloo Corporation in
Houston, Texas, where he and his wife Mary and
one child live.
’62-Ernest Petry is managing director of Zimmite,
UK, Ltd., in London, England. Tom Greene is con-
stroller of Andrews Bearing, division of
;Wheelabrator-Frye, in Spartanburg, S.C.
’63-Ronald Gardner is secretary-treasurer of Mega
'Contractors in Richmond. We are so happy to
welcome Sister Rose Gregory Ryan back to this
area. She is pastoral assistant at Sacred Heart in
Salisbury and we hope to see her often. E.C.
.Gulledge visited the Abbey in February. He is vice-
president of Acrylic Arts, Inc. in Germantown,
Tenn., where he and his wife Moira live.
’64-George Lund III is a reserve school technician
with the U.S. Government and lives in Charlotte.
’65-Jerome Vincent is regional supervisor with Aet
na Life & Casualty Co. and lives in Asheville, N.C.
Congratulations to Reginald Wright, who was pro
moted to chief of the Alabama IRS Examinatioh
Division effective February 1979. He and Janice and
their two sons, Robbie and Mark, live in Birm
ingham. It was good to have news of Lt. Cmr. Frank
Dowgwilla. He has assumed command of the sub
marine USS Darter and will be based in Sasebo,
Japan.
’66-James T. Murphy is territory manager for Her
man Miller, Inc. and lives in Murray Hill, N.J.
James Ralston is vice president of Heritage Leasing,
Inc. and lives in Bowie, Md. Walter Watts is in com
mercial real estate in Lexington, S.C. Eileen
Clarke's son, Brian Patrick Clarke, is starring on Na
tional Lampoon’s Delta House Saturday nights,
8:00-8:30 p.m. on ABC television. Good to hear from
lyou Eileen. Eileen is a learning disabilities specialist
in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Dan Parker is in the Army

(Mickey) Robbins has been with the Charlotte
Police Department for twelve years. In March 1979
she was named the first Outstanding Law Enforce
ment Officer of the Year by the Charlotte Jaycees.
•She and her husband, John, have one daughter, age
nine. John Christoff has been named logistics
managers for Materials Management in the opera
tions- division of Airwick Industries. A Ciba-Geigy
company, Airwick is a leading developer, manufac
turer and marketer of household and professional
products.
’67-Richard Magovern is merchandise manager for
.Milikien & Co. and lives in Fair Haven, N.J. Ed
ward McGorry is an accountant in Tucson, Ariz.,
where he and his wife Cynthia (Jackson, SHC ’68)
live. Vito Sanzo is manager of Interstate Motor
Freight Systems and lives in Lake Grove, N.Y. Dan
Parker is a captain in the Army stationed at Ft.
Lewis, Wash. Rick Stetson is plant industrial
fenginer with Burlington Industries in Oxford, N.C.
,A1 Santoro is a LCdr. in the U.S. Navy and lives in
Arlington, Texas. Michael Kolnok is a represen
tative with Nationwide Insurance Co. in Roanoke,
Va., where he and his wife Linda and one child live.
”68-Thurman Tomlinson is a material handler
with the AMP, Inc. in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Charles Stewart is textile supervisor (carpet yarns)
of Pharr Yams-Stowe Mills in Belmont and lives in
Stanley. Michael Norris is contract administrator
with the Singer Company in Silver Spring, Md., and
lives in Severn. Mark McMahon is an executive
search consultant wilth A.T. Kearney in New York
City and lives in Bridgeport, Conn. John Paul
Stroupe is a self-employed accountant in Bessemer
City, N.C. It was great to see Bill Adeimey when he
and his wife Jean visited the weekend of April 6-8.
They have three children and live in West Palm
Beach where Bill and Tom C69) run the concrete
business and John (73) operates the wholesale
seafood business.
'69-John E. Murphy is now living in Derttshire,
Scotland, where he teaches in the Taymouth Castle
School and is the school’s soccer coach. Thanks for
your letter, Carlos de Torres, telling me that since
last July you have been employed by the Georgia'
Regional Hospital in Atlanta as director of the
Fulton County program serving the City of Atlanta.
Carlos is responsible for the management, supervi
sion and programming for two adult psychiatric units
and finds the work very challenging. He was
previously with the Durham (N.C.) Mental Health
Center, and now lives in Atlanta. Dennis Smith
stopped by to say hello on March 30. He is sales
representative for Threads, U.S.A., a division of Ti-
Caro, Inc. in Gastonia, and he and his wife Chelsie
and young son Morgan Joseph live in Cramerton.
Hugh Hursey is director of taxes with Blount, Inc.
in Montgomery, Alabama, where he lives. Richard
Russo is sales supervisor with Campbell Sales Co.
and lives in Charlotte. Michael Dohn is manager of
sales promotion with Caskie Paper Co. in Charlotte.
Donald James Walthall is management auditor
with the U.S. General Accounting Office and lives in
Dale City, Va. James Featherstone is a CPA in
Gastonia. Craig Whitt will be practicing general
dentistry at the U.S. Naval Station, Panama Canal
Zone, where he and wife Nancy (Manley SHC 72)

70-Tom Cunning is a computer programmer with
Eastern Air Lines in Miami, Fla. Congratulations to
Larry Hartsell, who passed the CPA exam in
January. John Richard Walsh is claims supervisor
with Liberty Mutual in Charlotte. Chris Norvaez is
regional auditor for Sun Banks of Florida, Inc. and
lives in Maitland. Thanks for your note, Jim Eagen.
He is district manager for WTC Air Freight Corp. in
I Newark, N.J., and his wife Diana (McAndrews SHC
1 ’68) is an RN in Perth Amboy. They recently bought
a home in Spotswood, where they and son Chris, age
six, live. On their way to Hawaii for a convention in
.February, they stopped in Los Angeles to see Pam
land Tom Dugan (’69).
71-Frank Johnson is with Eaton Corporation and
lives in Statesville, N.C. Loy Cannon is in materials
management with Duke Power Co. and lives in
Stanley. Fritz Miller is an accountant and lives in
Oxon Hill, Md. Charles Bush is a police officer in
Virginia Beach, Va. Enjoyed a visit with Tim Con
ner when he stopped by on January 17. Tim is a cap
tain in the Army and was on his way back to Fort
Bliss, Tx., from Charlottesville, Va., where he at
tended the Judge Advocate General’s School for the
law of war workshop. Tim teaches at the Air Defense
Artillery School at Ft. BTiss. Thanks for your
interesting letter, Stan Winner, bringing us up-to-
date on what has been happening to you. Stan join
ed the Navy directly after graduation, married Pat
Bennett (Mercy School of Nursing, Charlotte, 72) af
ter boot camp at Bainbridge; she joined him in New
London, Conn, in mid-72, where he was in
training for submarine duty. He was commission
ed an Ensign in June *73, served aboard the
.USS Leahy, (CE-16) for three years and two
J months making various port cdls throughout
Newport, R.I., where he is now teaching warfare
■skills to newly commissioned officers. Stan has the
rank of Lieutenant/Surface Warfare, and he and Pat
have three children, Patricia, Stan junior, and Jen
nifer, who were with him in Virginia Beach, San
Diego, Long Beach (where the Leahy was overhaul
ed) and now at 206 Maffit Street, Middletown, R.I.
The only Abbey alumnus Stan crossed paths with
was Tony Pulcrano in San Diego in 1976, who at*'
that time was a lieutenant (j.g.) serving in the medical
corp. John Cahill is vice president-finance, for an
Atlanta-based commercial finance company and lives
in Marietta Ga. Gory Pietruszewski is with Ford
Motor Co. and has been transferred to Detroit.
Charles Guida has been named branch ad
ministrator for Citicorp Person-to-Person Mortgage
Corporation to supervise all operations and person
nel for the office in Las Vegas, Nev., where he and
his wife Doris and their son reside. A1 Jacobs is assis
tant manager of New York Life Insurance Co. in
Charlotte. Jeff Borthen is a district manager for the
Fram Corporation in Roanoke, Va.
72- Chorles Mauney is an internal revenue agent
in Charlotte. William Norris is living in Charlotte

to Joe O'Brien, who was appointed office leasing

Joanne live in Falls Church, Va. and have two
children, Daniel, age two, and Elaine, age one. Rick

75- Kevin Sweeney is pursuing a Master’s degree
in Business Administration at Hofstra University, go
ing for the CPA and a dual Master’s in Finance.
Kevin told me that Kevin Archey and his wife Sue
