The Worldwide Marriage Encounter movement is concerned with helping spouses come to a new appreciation of their love for each other; this is achieved through a weekend experience of forty-four hours in which a technique in the communication of feelings is developed. The Encouter is a Catholic faith experience open to couples of all faiths. Three couples and a priest alternate sharing presenta tions prepared from their own experiences. Following each presentation there is a time for personal reflection; then each couple privately discusses their thoughts and feelings about the presentations rmd reflections. In addition to the Catholic expression, there are weekends given within the framework of a variety of other faith expres sions, such as Episcopal, Lutheran and Jewish. The Board of Directors is chaired by Tom and Jayne McGuiness and Father Bob Uzzilio with headquarters in Los Angeles. The Encounter movement in North Carolina is directed by Jim and Marge Hakel for the Charlotte diocese and by Jim and Marylyn Kaus for the Raleigh diocese.
