Alumni Soccer Match Slated For October 27 Abbey socCer coach Jack Murphy, class of’69, announced this week that the 1979 Alumni Soccer Match has been scheduled for October 27, 1979. “We’ve scheduled the alumni game in conjunction with the Winthrop College varsity match,” said Coach Murphy. ‘The Winthrop game is always exciting, and the alumni contest should make it a great twin-bill.” Coach Murphy is looking for a turnout of some 20-25 former Abbey players.^ “We’d like to have enough to put alums against alums. Otherwise, we’ll pit the past players against this year’s team. “We may be a little slower, a little fatter or a little balder. But we all share the tradition of Abbey soccer.” That tradition will be carried further with a Soccer Reunion Party after the game. This will be a great opportunity for all the Old-timers to get together, share memories, and get caught up. But get your reser vation in early. “We’d like to have a firm list by October 5 so we can plan the other events,” the coach said. “We will be glad to make room arrangements at a local motel for those who request them. “We don’t have addresses for some of the people we’d like to contact, reported Coach Murphy. So, if you’ve seen or heard from any of the following people, please let them know about the Alumni Soccer Game, and send their addresses to Greg Holl- ingshead in the College Alumni Office.
