Since your parents probably will not give you more than a certain amount of money each month, dollar signs are in cluded to help you price your meals. Key($:l-5,$S:5-8,$$$:8- 10,$$$$:10&up) - Bahn’s: A little restau rant on Ninth Street, that serves mostly Vietnamese food, with other Asian dishes. $$ - Ben and Jerry’s: Ice Cream, Brownies, etc. Located beside Wellspring Grocery on Broad Street. $$ - Blue Corn Cafe: Latin-American Cuisine, lo cated on Ninth Street. $$$ - Boston Market: Southern cooking, mainly chicken and vegetables. Lo cated beside Harris Teeter. $$ - Broad Street Diner: All-American Cuisine. Located in front of Wellspring Grocer, on Broad Street. $$ - Bruegger’s Bagel Company: Any type of sand wich on a bagel. Located on Ninth Street. $$ - Bully’^: Mainly All- American, with their famous “Bully’s Cheese Steak,” located about half a block from Science and Math, on Broad Street. $ - Cosmic Cantina: Mexican Cuisine, located on the very end of Ninth Street. $ - Elmo’s Diner: All- American diner food located in the middle of Ninth Street. $$ - Francesca’s Gelato Cafe: Strictly a gourmet dessert cafe serving anything from gelato to Mississippi Mud Pie. $$ - George’s Garage: A gourmet restaurant that serves salads, seafood, steaks, and pasta. Located on West Main Street. $$ - Magnolia Grill: Southern Cooking, Magnolia Grill is a wonderful place to take the parents when they come to visit you. Located on Ninth Street $$$$ - Internationa] Delights: Serves mainly Greek food, lo eated on Ninth Street $$S -Ow - Ruby Thesday’s: Fam ily Dining, serving salads, sandwiches, soups, and fajitas. Located in Northgate Mall. $$$ - Wellspring: All or ganic deli. Located on Broad Street. $$ Coming to a new sehool can be rather confusing with its new lingo. Here are some of the most popular abbreviations heard around school. SLI: Student Life Instruc tor, the adult member of the hall responsible for your safety RLA: Residential Life As sistant, these highly-trained members of the NCSSM commu nity help to coordinate hall ac tivities and make sure everything’s swell on hall PCC: Peer College Counse lor, these students help organize college information for fellow seniors and summer programs for juniors PFM: Professional Food Management, the Cafeteria MPC: Multi-Cultural Peer Counselor, these students run multi-cultural activities at NCSSM such as religious festi vals and guest speakers I-Viz: Intervisitation, that time of the week when that spe cial somebody is allowed in your room for a little while Level: The name of the penalty for an infraction, the least serious penalty is a level I while the most serious is a level III Step: An unexcused class absence ETC: Educational Technol ogy Complex Weird: A class actually abbreviated WRRD that stands for Wisdom, Revelation, Reason and Doubt Koffehaus:NCSSM’s tal ent show, held every couple of weeks Lab: Most NCSSM sci ence and math courses feature an opportunity to spend more time on an extended project or lab experiment * PEC: Physical educational center, NCSSM’s gym Fish Tank: The creative name for the computing centers, so named because of the ap pearance to an outside observer ACC: Asian Cultures Club, one of the bigger clubs on campus The Mafia: The Indian awareness and culture club Harambe: The African- Ameriean culture club IM Field/ Watts Lawn: some of the softer spots on cam pus Extended: the name for NCSSM’s semi-frequent long weekends Priv’s: short for privileges, this is available to juniors after the first semester with at least 3 A’s, no more than 3 steps, noth ing less than a B-, and no major level violations Supplemental: Students struggling to maintain their grades may receive a supplememtal.
