Getting to use the technology available here was great.” Hardest/7arL‘“Working with a big cast.” Most important thing that^ 1 learned: “JELL-O does not come out of clothing.” Chris Erb, senior Mini-Term project: Independent Film What he did: Cinematography for Sequel Pending Favorite Part: “Having control of how the movie looked.” Hardest part: “The lack of time was a little frustrating. We weren’t able to get some things as perfect as we would have liked and felt a little rushed.” Most important thing that learned: “I learned some things about how to be pre pared and scheduled for filming. Independent Project in HTML Favorite Part: “Seeing my finished project - my own web page.” Hardest part: “Continuous HTML for all of Mini-Term. Towards the end, I got a little tired of it.” Most important thing that I learned: “Problem-solving. I also like talking to a professor from UNC.” Hardest part: “Riding for four hours every day to see the pottery and writing reports on the pottery in the library from talking with the potters we visit ed at Seagrove.” Most important thing that I learned: “To appreciate tradi tional pottery.” Natasha Marcuard , senior Mini-Term project: Sailing in the British Virgin Islands Favorite Part: "The sun and the water and no homework. Oh, and I got a new t- shirt that says, ‘I came, I saw, I jumped...’ (and in small print) ‘naked at the willy t's.’" Hardest part: "Recovering from landsickness once I got back." Most important thing that I learned: "It was the first time I've ever planned a trip abroad. I've traveled to BVI before, but with parents. I learned how to plan a trip and travel with people my own age." Mary Haywood , junior Mini-Term project: Independent Project in Clothing Design and Assembly in Los Angeles, CA Favorite Part: "Learning how clothes are actually made in mass." Hardest part: "Trying to make a web page about my project." Most important thing that I learned: "I had always thought that designers spent most of their time on the creative aspects in fashion, but the majority of the work the designer I shad owed did involved coordinating and organizing. She had to make sure the clothes were made properly, like that the fabric was correct and the correct zippers were sent to the manufac turer, etc." Alexis Klein, senior Mini-Term project: Photography at Holden Beach, NC Independent Study Focus: Documented portrait photography Favorite Part: “Being able to wake up every day and do what I love - take pictures.” Most important thing that I learned: “I learned how to think quickly about what kind of shots to take. When you ask permission to photo graph a stranger, there isn’t much time to waste. I also learned how to successfully approach people as a photographer.” Jessica Wagstaff, senior Mini-Term project: Bayesian Statistics and Dynamic Systems Favorite Part: "My individual project. I studied learning curves." Hardest part: "Remembering to use Bayesian methods. I kept wanting to apply the Statistics methods I was familiar with." Most important thing that I learned: "I measured my ini tial and final probability of winning solitaire and my own learning rate."
