Clubs, Clubs, and more Clubs!
Aneesh Kulkarni
N early everyone at
NCSSM belongs to
some club, whether
it’s the Cheese Club, the
Stentorian (which you are
reading right now), or some
other activity of interest. On
August 21, the annual Club
Fair will take place in the
Student Center courtyard, and
I encourage everyone, espe
cially juniors, to attend.
Without further ado, here is a
sampling of the clubs you will
find:
The Stentorian: This is the
school’s student-run newspa
per, published monthly (usual
ly). The Stentorian is always
in need of good writers, so if
Journalism appeals to you,
give it a try and write a
Stentorian article.
Asian Cultures Club: ACC is
the largest club at school (at
least it claims to be). The club
engages in a variety of activi
ties that celebrate Asian cul
tures, including the annual
AsiaFest in the spring. You
don’t need to be Asian to join!
NSBE: NSBE, the National
Society of Black Engineers is
a world-wide engineering
organization that welcomes all
interested persons regardless
of race or intended major. By
joining and participating in
club functions, you will not
only learn about the sciences,
but also about how to handle
yourself in a business setting.
Blue Mirror: The Blue Mirror
- Arts and Literary Magazine -
provides the opportunity for
publication of the works of
talented NCSSM artists, writ
ers, and composers. The Blue
Mirror staff consists of a
group of students who will
review the submissions to
select those that are qualified
for publication.
Math Club: This is for anyone
who enjoys working on inter
esting and challenging math
problems. You also get to
work with our awesome math
faculty.
Academic Team: The
Academic Team participates
in local Quiz Bowl and other
competitions (and usually
does pretty well). Anyone
who enjoys or has a talent in
academic fields should con
sider joining.
WorldQuest: This is for any
one with an interest in current
events, geography, history,
and world affairs.
Science Olympiad: The SO
Team participates in the
regional SO competition,
where they compete in various
events like Chemistry Lab,
Science of Fitness, and Tower
Building.
Many other clubs
will also be at the club fair. If
there's not one for you, then
start your own!

Brueggers Bagels:
Sometimes it’s worth a walk
to the end of 9th street for a
fresh bagel.
Charlie s:
This restaurant is used fre
quently by middle aged bikers
but makes for a good meal.
Ca/e at the Regulator:
A great place to work, drink
coffee, and munch on huge
cookies.
Georges Garage:
This restaurant has a pretty
affordable market that sells
some of the pricier items on
the menu such as sushi and
seafood.
Bahn s Cuisine:
Vietnamese and Chinese fast
food is served Monday
through Friday, and on
Saturday, the owners offer
Vietnamese home cooking.
Francesca's Desert Cafe:
This cafe carries amazing
homemade ice cream and
gelatos in some 200 rotating
flavors along with coffee and
pastries. It’s
always worth a
peek to see what
flavors are avail

NCSSM does not
