Athlete Spotlight: Kara Anasti 4T, iDul Bummer. / Just reraeinber where her loyalties lie. She’s with UNC F or those of you who haven’t attended a tennis match, cross country meet, or track meet in the last two years, Kara Anasti may be a mystery. The three-sport athlete has played #1 on the tennis team for the last two years, and she was the best female distance runner on the track team last year, finishing 15th in the 3200 meter run at the state meet. While she’s not busy playing varsity sports, Kara participates in the Habitat for Humanity Club, intramu rals, and plans activities for Ground Reynolds as an RLA. His passion for running is discernible by his enthusi asm to share his knowledge with others. Prior to an injury, he won the Graham Invitational for the second year in a row and placed third at the Jungle run while assist ing the boy’s team to an impressive third place. During the first meet following his recovery, he dominated the field at the Durham County Championship, set a personal record that day and helped the boy’s team earn 2nd place. \T\i Volleyball T he Coach, Davene Mainwaring would like to commend seniors, Lindsey Aldridge, Jenna Bone, Holly Busic, Jamie Kuntz, and Ying Liu for all their hard work this month. Cross Country Spotlight L eigh Ann Taylor: Leigh Ann hurt herself while ruiming at the Jungle run invitational (the first meet of the season). However, she persevered and showed incredible athleticism and dedication by actually winning this race. This is indicative of her desire to per form at her best at all times. Trivia!!! While she was injured she continued to be a positive con tributor to the team by coming to meets to cheer on and encourage her teammates.
