Francesca’s
Italian style cafe
with ice cream, coffee,
pastries, and cakes.
Their apple cider is for
some reason fantastic
George’s Garage
Mediterranean food
served buffet style and
charged by the pound-
-but still delicious and
fairly cheap
Locopops (On
Hillsborough, east of 9th
Street)
Paletas, Mexican style
popsicles with some very
deliciously unusual flavors.
One World Market
A volunteer-based fair trade
store that sells things made
by people in underdeveloped
countires. Really cool
gifts, jewelry, home decor,
and all for a good cause.
Manhattan Pizza
It’s pizza. Big pieces
of greasy, delicious
pizza. What could be
bad about that?
N
Ninth Street
Native threads
Funky clothes, gifts,
decorations, etc. It’s the
one with the big frog out
front.
Chubby’s Tacos
Cheap, cheap,
cheap (but not as
cheap as Cosmic
Cantina) and good,
good, good. They’re
also environmentally
conscious, with cups made
out of com and forks
made out of potatoes.
International Delights
Delicious international
(by which we mean
Middle Eastern) cuisine.
Gyros, falafel, hommos,
tabouleh, and philly
cheesesteaks. And if you
don’t get fries, DON’T
ask for ketchup.
Cosmic Cantina
Between Ninth and
Broad, Cosmic has pretty
good Mexican food,
outdoor seating, and fast
service at ridiculously
low prices. Don’t come
expecting frills, or,
really, anything but food.
Elmo’s Diner
Good old-fashioned diner
food. Think bacon and eggs,
toast, pancakes, and burgers
for when you need some
comfort food.
Banh’s Cuisine
Like a boring
friend that goes nuts
on the weekend, this
restaurant is packed
on Wednesdays
and Saturdays,
when its normally
limited selection
of Chinese food
is replaced by the
delicious Vietnamese
vegetarian special.
Whole Foods Market
An organic grocery store right across
the street from Duke East. They also
have a great buffet and salad bar.
Ben and Jerry’s
40 delicious varieties of ice cream
and sorbet. Go eat some and watch
your life suddenly be better.
Mad Hatter’s
Great fresh food and a funky
atmosphere. Complete with a display
case full of desserts to make you drool.
