PAGE EIGHT THE LEXHIPEP DECEMBER 19, 192* “THE ALPHA GAMMA LITERARY SOCIETY” The Alpha Gamma Literary Society met November 25th, in Room 2. The business was discussed and then an interesting program was given. Edna Bowers gave a current event. Glenn L. Hamll read several jokes. A debate Resolved; “That a country girl has better chances of getting mar ried than a city girl,” was then held Valera Smith was the speaker of the negative and Lela Hedrick on the .affirmative, but neither had prepar ed their argument. The president appointed Eunice Hedrick for the af firmative and John Cartee for the negative. They gave very interest ing discussion on both sides and Mr. Hunt gave a list of reasons why a country girl had better chances of getting married. The criticism was given and the society ajourned. The Alpha Gamma Literary Society held its regular meeting, December 2, in Room 2. The social commit tee was asked for report and the business was discussed. Eunice Hed rick gave a reading and Mr. Hunt read some nuggets. The president appointed Theresa Hackney, Helen Buchanan and Glenn L. Hamil to act as program committee. Miss Zimmerman gave the criticisms and the meeting was brought to a close. The sixth meeting of the Alpha Gamma Literary Society was held in Room 2, December 9. The president asked the society about getting so ciety pins and she has ordered some samples for the society to choose from. After the business was dis cussed a very interesting program was given. There were two debates, the first one was Resolved; that Lex ington High School should organize and conduct a dramatic Club.” The speakers on the affirmative were Mildred Conrad and Dorothy Myers The negative speakers were Nell Truitt and Edna Chaney. The judges gave their decision and the negative side won. The second debate was re solved; “That a broom is more use ful than a dish rag.” The speaker on the affirmative was Nellie Leon ard and on the negative, Edna Bowers. They gave very humorous points on both sides and the society had a standing vote to see which was the mo.st useful, the broom receiving the most votes.
