January 24, 1947 THE LEXHIPEP/ MOVIE CHATTER —Adele Tuttle Republic Studios technicolor extravaganza, “I’ve Always Loved ^ playing at the Auditorium Theater Monday, January 27, and Wednesday, January 29. (The theater will be closed Tuesday, January 28, becau^ of a basketball game.) This movie will bring to the screen Catherine Mcl^od as a beautiful and talented pianist who works hard to become a concert artist and then gives everything up because of love. Handsome William Carter plays the part of the man who always loved Miss McLeod; and in the role of the man Miss McLeod becomes infatuated with is Phillip Dorn. Many famoiK classical pieces will be recognized in this production, and they were recorded by Arthur Rubinstein, the world’s greatest pianist. In the support!^ roles are Mme. Marie Ouspenskaya, Felix Bressart, and Vanessa Brown. You cer tainly won’t go wrong by seeing this Frank Borzaga’s production. Thursday and Friday, January 30 and 31, the Walt Disney picture. Make Mine Music,” will play in Lexington. Plus the usual Disney characters you will hear Dinah Shore, Nelson Eddy, Benny Goodman, and many others. There’ll be plenty of music and many, many laughs. Since the show will be closed Tuesday, February 4 (another basketball game) “Two Guys From Milwaukee” w^ill play at the Auditorium Theater Monday, February 3, and Wednesday, February 5. Dennis Morgan Plays the role of a prince who gets mixed up with: a.—Jack Carson, a taxi driwr, b.—Joan Leslie, Jack’s girl friend; and c.—Janis Paige, Joans friend. You can guess as to what happens thereon! It’s a riot of a picture, from Jack and Harry Warner’s studio. Oh, yes! S. Z. Sakall is thrown in for extra laughs. Claudia is back! Yes, that lovable, irresistible character, Clauda,, is at last back on the screen. Dorothy McGuire and Robert Young ^ain play the roles they created in Claudia. Also featured in “Claudia and David are handsome John Sutton and lovely Gail, Patrick. Bringing back all the breezy freshness and light-heartedness of “Clauda,” “Claudia and David” really make a fine evening’s entertainment. It wouldn’t be fair to you to tell you the plot of the picture, so go see this Twentieth Century-Fox production either on Tliursday or Friday, February 6 or 7. You’ll love it! One of your favorite screen tough-guys returns to the Auditorium screen on Monday and Wednesday, February 10 and 12, in “Nobody Forever . (Closed on Tuesday due to a basketball game.) Yep! John Garfield is back and Geraldine Fitzgerald is the lucky gal opposite him. Walter Brennan, Faye Emerson, George Tobias are also in the cast. Garfield plays Nick Blake, a swindler, who tries to swindle a wealthy widow (Miss Fitzgerald) out of a few hundred thousand dollars. When said gambler and said widow fall in love and when said gambler tries to pull out of the swindle, things really start popping but fast. It’s a very exciting tale from Warner’s. , , “Gallant Bess,” the story of the horse with the human mind, has been filmed by M.G.M. with Marshall Thompson and Bess as the stars. You will fall in love with both Marshall and Bess in this really lovable picture. Pro duced in the new Cinecolor process. “Bess” was produced by Harry Rapf It plays Tnursday and Friday, February 13 and 14. From Warner’s comes another picture that is equal to or even better than “Mildred Pierce”. The stars are Joan Crawford and John Garfield, and the picture is “Humoresque”. This is really Miss Crawford’s picture from the first scene to the last scene. The first version of this Fanme Hurst rtory was filmed a quarter of a century ago. The plot is about Paul Boray (Gar- fi6ld), who grows up to bo a genius of the violin, and Helen Wright (Joan), who tries to help him further his career with her money and influence. Boray resents this, yet he falls in love with Helen. Thus we have “Humoresque.’ Playing Paul’s life long friend is that humorous and grand pianist, Oscar Levant Director Jean Negulesco really has made this one of the top pictures of the year along with the brilliant and talented Miss Crawford and the equally taldnted Mr. Garfield. Here is another picture that will be on the list for an Academy Award. See it on Monday or Tuesday, February 17 or 18. That two-fisted fighter, George Raft, and lovely Lynn Bari come to the Auditorium Theater screen on Wednesday and Thursday, February 19 and 20. It’s the usual Raft picture, blood, murder, fights, and love. It’s from R.K.O. and should make pretty good entertainment.
