April 25, 1947 THE LEXHIPEP Page 5 LEXHIPEEPERS WE.LU. “Life Begins at Sixteen,’’ tonight. For other students as well as the excited cast. Here’s hoping it will be as big a success as the Senior Class Play! We bet that Peggy C. likes Study Hall ’cause it’s an every day occurrence that “Chub’’ saves a seat for her or Peggy saves one for him. Did you see Mary Anne Hunt drag herself to church Easter Sunday morning, and we do mean drag!?! It was all she could do to carry herself and the huge white orchid that Jimmy Siceloff sent to her! Easter corsages were plentiful this year among the L. H. S. students. Bill Johnson sent Becky several baby orchids. Bill sent Sue baby orchids, “Tubba” sent Joanne an orchid and several others received corsages. Jane Gordon was really the lucky girl and received a big, big box of Easter candy from Bill. (It surely was good.) Last minute trips to Winston for the Easter Services were taken by: Johnnie and Mary Anne, Hardrock and Barbara, Mike and Harold, and Nancy and Bob Peeler. Easter Sunday found Jane and Zacky in the show in Salisbury. The big event came Easter Monday when several took a trip to the river house for supper. Among those were: Squirrel and Enid, and Martha and Bill. One of the high spots of the holidays was the bowling alley in Salisbury. Several boys and their girls were. Some of the boys were: Tinker, Benny, Pece, Woody, and Hugh. Seen together again right after the holidays were Betty Anne and Johnny. We knew they would come to their senses. Did 5’ou happen to see Ruth Jenkins leaning half way out the library last Monday atternoon? Well, she was being attracted by none other than Leon Hedi-ick (her one and only). Well, it isn’t long before the Jr.-Sr. and for once practically all the girls qlready have bids. It looks as if the country ciub will be well filled with couples on the night of May 9. Now for the big event during Easter!!! Geraldine Leonard received the best yet. Jack Draughty, who is now her husband. Congratulations, we’re glad to see you’:^e going to finish! I guess you’re curious about Jim Barger now! Well, Gladys Story has taken care of the situation very well. Jimmy, you'd better watch who you ask to take your woman home. It might turn out to be more than one trip! What’s that, Mildred! How ya’ like walking, Nancy Jean, since Doug’s car got wrecked? I guess it doesn’t matter when you’re in love!!! Another Gosnell episode is Jack and Betty Weese. An everlasting affair. We can’t tell you which of Margaret Finch’s fellers gave her an orchid, but one of them did. We guess the boys without girls consider themselves fortunate at Easter, but how about what you’re missing!!! Charles’ dream girl was here Easter and sporting Charlie’s orchi,d too!! You know that cuts centerfielder, Harold Crotts? Well, have you noticed he doesn’t only play baseball but pitches woo like nobody’s business! Just ask Jackie Sink!!!!! Joannie Green has a crush on Buddy Beck and that “ain’t’’ hay. Jack Alber has ben seen lately with a very good looking brunette anl they make a swell couple. Speaking of the Jr.-Sr., there are really big plans buzzing around for after the Jr.-Sr. We hear this is gonna be the biggest and best. See ya there. Once again we bid you “Adieu” to join the crowds enjoying this beautiful weather. * • I The Eyes and Ears of Lexington High Remember When! —Tommy Young 1 YEAR AGO First We see “Squirrel” and “A.J.”, one of the latest loves. “A.J.” has a fuschia suit. Squirrel has under his left arm a fishing pole. (Can’t imagine where his right arm is.) Over on the square are several couples picnicirig. Through our spy glasses, we visualize Carol Biesecker and “Shorty” Stafford, Colleen Story and Gilbert Yarborough, and Betty Rose and Rodney Clark. What’s the hearse doing in the Eas ter parade? Of course it’s Jimmy Blue and Bill Morris!! Behind them is Betty Sue W. and her “feller” in Conrad 'and Hinkle’s truck. We’re so glad to see Betty June and Jimmy Poston back together! (Now, Betty June, you can gain back chose five pounds you lost.) As we stop in Purcell’s to rest a minute, we see in the first booth, Peggy Costner and Bobby Leonard; in the second booth is Carolihi Koonts, waiting for Buddy Beck to get back from the counter. Jackie finally found Gerry; at the beginning of our tour he was search ing frantically for her. L.H.S'. Represented at Press Con ference (April 5, 1946). It’s Zacky Tay lor, that cute sophomore. ' Lanford Muskrat, glad to hear you have a girl (a cute one, too). Say, where do you get the gas to take Jackie Trexler home every day at lunch, etc.? Virginia Byers likes a boy from Lin- wood—Herb! Davis-Townsend rates too. Johnnie Michael likes a basketball player from there, and Ella Rae Hardister thinks a certain curly-haired boy is o. k.!
