The prairie tourist, marveling at New England’s scenery. Anally asked a
New Hampshire farmer where all the rocks came from,
“The great glacier brought them here,” the native replied.
“Well, where’s the glacier now?” demanded the stranger.
“It went back for more rocks,” the farmer drawled.
Young says for years the two sexes have been racing for supremacy.
Now they have settled down to neck and neck.
Then there was the girl who went to a dance in a paper dress . . .
and afterwards went on a tear.
“I went into a telephone booth to talk to my girl.”
“Have a nice chat?”
“Yeah, but the people outside got tired of waiting, so we had to come out.”
Newell: “I wish to marry your daughter, sir.”
“Do you drink, young man?”
“Yes, thanks; but let’s get this other matter cleared up Arst.”
Hendricks: How’d you catch your cold?
Poston: I took a bath naked.
Storekeeper: Look here, young man, I will show you the real thing
in men’s hose.
Tiger Cook: The real thing doesn’t come in men’s hose.
The farmer was driving his college-bred daughter home from the station.
“I have a confession to make,” she whispered. “I ain’t a good girl anymore.”
The old man’s head dropped. “After all the sacriAces your mother and
I made for you, the things we went without, all to make a lady of you—
and you still say ain’t.”
Mike: “What a wonderfully developed arm you have! Do you play
baseball?”
Eanes: “Yes. Were you ever on the track team?”
“My son is going to be a mechanic.”
“What' makes you think so?”
“He has a knack for tinkering with a miss in the motor.”
