Friday, March 24, 1950 THE LEXHIPEP Page 7 Future Homemakers Honor Mothers At Valentine Banquet Members of the Lexington chapter of the Future Homemakers of Amer ica entertained their mothers at a buffet supper Tuesday evening, Feb ruary 14, 1950, in the high school economics department at 6:30. The rooms were beautifully decorated with the theme of Valentine day predomi nation. Red roses and azaleas were used. “Get-Acquainted” games were used before the meal. The long table was decorated with red candles and cen tered with a large bowl of red roses. The menu consisted of a large variety of delicious foods brought by each student. Soft music was played during the meal. After the meal a short candlelight program was conducted by the prest dent, Jeanette Leonard. Several mem bers gave the purpose and explained the work of the organization. Each girl then stood and introduced her self and her mother. The program was closed by everyone singing the F.H.A. emblem benediction. Members present with their mothers or visitors were; Nancy Abernethy, Beryl Block, Kaye Byrd, Phyllis Breedon, Eve Hargrave, Jo Ann Lee, Becky Lindsay," Jeanette Leonard, Joann Leonard, Janett Mills, Carolyn Moore, Clara Martin, Mary Lou Nance, Mary Ann Osborne, Anne Stuart, Jer- rell Ann Sutton, Betty Wikinson, Sa rah Williamson, Mona Way Marsh and Mrs. Jacqueline Leonard, adviser. Reverend Banks J. Peeler Leads Devotional Assembly The student body was very glad to have the Reverend Banks J. Peeler, well-known pastor of the First Re formed Church, as speaker for the devotional assembly program on Thursday, March 2. He stressed that students should make the niost of what they have and grasp opportuni ties as they come along. Everyone enjoyed his talk and would like to extend a cordial welcome for him to visit the school at any time. Ross Ritchie conducted the devo tional, and the Glee Club sang musi cal selections of a religious nature. KEY CLUBBERS’ CONVENTION (Continued from page four) where they received excellent service. The Convention was climaxed on Sat urday night with a banquet and a Trustees’ Ball, the latter being held in the ballroom on the roof of the hotel. The club is now looking forward to the International Convention that will be held in Columbus, Ohio, on April 28-29. The members chosen to represent the club at the convention are: Delegates, Don Leonard and Jack Evans; alternates, Ang Lindsey and Herbert Sink.
