Jackets Split With
Asheboro; Girls Win
By Large Margin
On Tuesday night, January 23, here
at Lexington, the Jackets lost a thrill
ing ball game to Asheboro by the score
of 64 to 56. This was probably the
best game seen by the Lexington fans
this year, even though it was in favor
of the visiting team. York, an out
standing athlete in both basketball
and football, and one who made all-
state in both last season, scored 36
points to lead both teams in scoring.
Don Furdee, who was unable to play
in several contests because of an in
jured ankle, was high scorer for the
locals with 22 points.
The local girls won by the score of
73 to 61. Swaim, who is establishing
quite a reputation throughout the state
as a high scoring threat, increased
her average by hitting for 34 points.
H. Bruton was also among the top
scorers with 26 points.
