With the calm patience of the woods I wait For leaf and blossom when God gives us Spring!” From “A Day,” Stanza 6 By John Greenleaf Whittier Tillie, Barbara, Eddie and Bob Rate (con’t.) have a better time in dear old L. H. S. She likes high school fine and says it’s just what she expected. Getting to see verybody and having lots of fun are the things she likes best about Lexington High; but, like everyone else, she would like to have a few changes made. She says that going to the gym every day, and having more movies and more assemblies would make life in high school much more fun. She likes football (who doesn’t?), and wants to be on the basketball team. Her biggest ambi tion while in high school is to be a cheerleader and on a staff. Barbara, we know you’ll get to do all those things, and we want to say that L. H. S. is glad to have you. The other boy is Bob Stafford, and we know you will all agree that he’s a mighty cute guy. He hails from Robbins and says he likes high school better than grammar school. He agrees with everyone else in that high school is very different rfom gram mar school. Bob says that here you have more freedom and the work is easier!! (This guy must be a brain!!) He would like a bigger gym, more and better assemblies, and cushioned chairs in the auditorium. (We all agree on that one!) Bob’s football ambitions are to make first string full back and be an all-Stater in future years. What Bob likes best is that there are more opportunities for sports, and he enjoys taking gym. His biggest ambitions while in high school are to make an A on history (is it possible??), also the A honor roll, and to be captain of the football team. Those arc mighty big ambitions. Bob, but we know you’ll succeed in everything you try to do!! Well, there you are, folks, four members of one of the cutest sub freshmen classesc to hit this high school. They arc the juniors and seniors of the next few years, but if they are all as cute and as smart as these four, then we know that we seniors are leaving L. H. S. in good hands. Woodlief .... > ^ * II ill S’ * am While “blowing” around today, whom did we find making a kite to fly Jn this breezy weather but Mr. and Miss L. H. S., Marie Everhart and Charles Swicegood. Charles and Marie are getting ready for the windy weather in this month of March. (Together?!) They are one of the cutest steady couples in the Senior Class (in the writer’s opinion!). Interviewing them was lots of fun, ’cause they leally are swell kids. Marie’s hobbies are drawing and watching Charles play baseball. Her ambitoin is to become an artist. (We know she’ll be a good one!) She is going to take a business course at Ashmore Business School. Her favorite pastime is just sitting and thinking (and dating Charles. Natch?!) Marie’s activtiies include the Tri-Hi-Y, manager of the girls’ Basketball Team, and president of the Glee Club. Her favorite songs are “Maybe You’ll Be There” (Say, we like that too!!), and “I Tawt I Taw a Putty Tat.” (Wonder what kind of memories “that” brings back!.!) Marie likes all her teachers (clever gal, isn’t she!,!), especially Mr. Clark (if he wouldn’t tease her so much!), and her favorite subject is typing. Her biggest weakenss is potato salad and a cheeseburger from the Soda Sli.^ppc, tapering off with a strawberry milkshake. Digging more into Marie’s private life, we found out that the type date she prefers is one that is thoughtful, courteous, and understanding. (The Charles Swicegood type, of course!?!) Naturally, Marie thinks “Charlie” is the cutest boy in L.H.S. When asked about the best time ever had, Marie replied that it was on one of her dates with Charles when they went ’possum hunting with Janet and “Millie,” and Marie fell in the creek (with Charles’ help, of course!?!) Jeepers! We’ve asked Marie so many questions that we haven’t given her “man” an equal chance to say something. Charles is the athletic type (yummy!) as you can surely tell by his won derful physique. He is one of our most valuable players on the basketball team, and proves to be a promising baseball player this season. His ambition is to play professional baseball. (What’s this, another Babe Ruth?) His hobby is sports. (How odd!!) Charles’ college preference is Wake Forest College. (Good college, bo’!!) His favorite subject is math, and his favorite teachers are Mrs. Hedrick, Miss Hill, and Mr. Clark. (He must wanta make good grades, too!!) The best time he ever had was beating T-viile in basketball this year. (You mean ya’ didn’t enjoy “pushing” Marie in the creek, Charles?!?) “Charlie’s” favorite pastime is talking about sports (and dating Marie. (What a coincidence!!) The type dale preferred by him is the Everhart type (one that doesn’t want her way all the time!?) Tops on his list of movies is “Gone With the Wind,” and “The Pride of the Yankees” is his favorite book. “Maybe You’ll Be There” is his favorite song, too. (It must birng back nice memories?!?) When asked what his weakness was, Charles replied that he had none. (We bet we know one!) His activities include the Varsity Basketball Team, the Student Council, and the Baseball Team. It has been swell interviewing Mr. and Miss L.H.S. this month. Here’s our very best wishes to them, and we hope that they stay together for a long time. Guess we had better be breezing along ’cause the time is running out, and we want to go fly our kites, too!
