Page 8 THE LEXHIPEP March 30. 1951 r Lexhipep Looks In On KEY CLUB CONVENTION —Patsy Graver This month the LEXHIPEP sneaked around and got some inside in formation on the activities of some of the clubs of L. H. S. First of all, we had heard so much talk about the wonderful time the Key Club members had at the Charleston convention that we proceeded to find out about it. This wasn’t hard to do because all the boys were “bubbling over” with talk about what they had done. From what we gathered, they spent four interesting and exciting days in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina, sight seeing, attending meetings and basketball games, and other things of interest. They had rooms in the barracks at The Citadel, Charleston s military school. Among other things of interest they attended a basketball game between The Citadel and Clcmson. The highlight of the convention was the annual Gov ernor’s Ball held on Saturday night. The next morning they packed their bags and headed for Lexington, taking with them pleasant memories of the convention at Charleston. Those who went were Foyle Wagner, Jones Al mond, Rex Doby, Joe Bafford, Bob Grubb, Hayden Hooper, Fred Lohr. John Byron Lopp, and their adviser, Mr. Emery Raper. iiili Ti 'T3f- i'U m s mm&m ^ , -V « DRAMATICS CLUB PLAY Next on our list is the Dramatics Club. After the presentation of their last play, “The Ring and the l.ook,” we were even more interested in finding out about their aetivities. So off we started to peep into one of their classes at sixth period. Dramatics is an elective course which is under the capable guidance of Mrs. Fred B. Lewis. It is taught with thoroughness and is far from being a crip course; however, it holds interest for everyone. We heard some of the members say that the rehearsal of plays is most enojyable and most of the time proves to be exciting and sometimes hilarious. A great deal of work is done in preparing a play before its final presentation, but who would mind working if they could turn out such fine productions as this club has? Everyone has certainly enjoyed the plays they have presented so far, and are looking forward to more. QUILL AND SCROLL INITIATION Last but by no means the least is the Quill and Scroll. We dropped in on their meeting the other night and landed in the midst of a big feed (fur nished entirely by the new members being initiated, of course) which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. Afterwards they held the second part of the initiation, in which they showed their ability as writers. We must say that the new members proved to be quite talented and clever in their presentation. During and will become president next year. The induction of the new members the meeting Nona Swaim, one of the new members, was chosen vice president into the club is in recognition of their journalistic and business ability, which has been displayed in their work on the LEXHIPEP and LEXICON staffs.
