Homecoming
The new constitution contains a
major article which specifies The
Barker staff will be in charge of
the selection of the Homecoming
Queen; all senior girls are eligible
for the contest; all school clubs
must eicci their sponsors' from the
senior class, with the exception of
clubs composed exclusively of under
classmen; and the homecoming chapel
program, parade, half-time ceremon
ies, and dance shall be under the
responsibility of the Student Council.
Point System
The point system, which was de
vised ten years ago to protect the
students from overburdening them
selves with extra-curricular activities,
has been discontinued.
The committee found that “no sys
tem can be devised to judge the
capabilities of the individual. This
should be left up to each student to
decide for himself.”
Student Body Officers
Under the new constitution, stu
dent body officers must maintain an
“A” average on conduct and a “C”
average on scholarship each s i x
weeks. A six weeks’ probation will
be given the first time an officer's
grades do not meet these require
ments. Club officers and members
must meet the same grade require
ments as the student body officers.
In commenting oh the revised con
stitution and its ratification, Alvis
Rich, president of the student body
said, “During the past 10 years our
constitution has only been slightly
modified. Since amendments were not
adequate to meet the growing needs
of the school, it was necessary to
revise the constitution itself. 1 urge
all students to support the Student
Council and the revised constitution
in order to build a greater and better
