SAFETY
To focus our attention on the
need for improved safety off the plant,
the off the job safety committee has
adopted a seasonal events calendar.
Special events will be staged just be
fore each major holiday under this pro
gram.
Two of these events staged re
cently were held just prior to Memorial
Day and July 4th.
The Memorial Day event featur
ed “Friendly Faces You Don’t Want To
See This Weekend’’. Patrolman L. S.
Goodson of Flendersonville handed out
“citations” showing traffic accident
statistics. Tom Connors of Medical
stood by with emergency stretcher and
transfusion apparatus. John Fisher
of Maintenance proclaimed “We’ll be
the last ones to let you down” in front
of Fisher’s Mortuary.
In star spangled costumes, Dar
lene Hogsed, Shirley Pace, and
Leonard Poteet appeared at the Plant
gate just prior to July 4th with hand
outs on accident prevention.
Both events were video taped
by John New of Finishing for showing
to the 12 to 8 shift in the lunch room.
“Look for more reminders of
off the job safety just before forth
coming holidays”, states “Shep” She
pard, chairman of the off the job safety
subcommittee.
Our off the job Central Safety
sub-committee is determined to keep
us on our toes about safety away from
our job. We appreciate their efforts
to keep us mindful of safety at all times
particularly when we’re “on our own”.
