PEOPLE Question of the Month QUESTION:“How do you feel about the ‘Personalized Benefit Statement’?” -J.* y Operator — Maple in K LVJ GENE HOOPER —Slitter Finishing Area — Resides Grove Trailer Park in Brevard —Single — 8 years Company Service. “Value of our Du Pont benefits is more than we realize. We don’t realize for example how much health insurance costs until we see it like this in black and white. A good many of us aren’t thinking about retiring just yet but it gives us a secure feeling to know what we can expect when we do. The statement also shows what you par ticipate in and what you might not be taking advantage of.” ANSWERS: MARK SANDERS —Laboratorian — Control Lab Area — Resides on Pickens Highway in Rosman — Married with 4 children —11 years Company Service. “I think it was- pretty good to bring out what we will have when we reach the stage of retirement. It will help us to plan ahead for retirement and also help our family know what they can depend on having if worst comes to worst. It would be nice if we could get this statement every so often to keep us up to date.” € HAROLD RAHN —Control Mechanic — Control Maintenance Area —Resides at 72 East Probart St. —MaiTied with 4 children —7 years Company Service. “It lets you know what you as an indi vidual employee are getting . . . what you can expect now and what you can expect at retirement.” VIRGINIA STEPP —Secretary —Plant Staff — Resides on Deerwood Lane in Brevard —Married —14 years Com pany Service. “I think its just great. It gives me a better understanding of my Du Pont benefits. I feel we should think about our security. It’s good that the Com pany took this much interest to show us what our benefits mean to us in dollars and cents. One benefit that appeals to most of us is retirement. Our retirement benefits are amazing especially the pension . . . and sur vivor benefits are equally surprising. It’s extremely interesting to see how much in general the Company pays on these benefits.” NEXT MONTH’S QUESTION: WHAT DOES THE “DU PONT SAFETY PHILOSOPHY” MEAN TO YOU? CECIL SIZEMORE — Service Operator — Casting Area — Resides at 721 Hals- burg Ave. in Hendersonville —Mar ried with 2 children — 2 years Company Service. “I think it was good. A man looking at the statement can figure out what he can do 30 years from now. The Com pany has worked this problem out for him and presented it in facts and fig ures. I’ve often thought about doing this myself but couldn’t predict this information as well as the Company can. It’s very complete all the way from hospital insurance to social security and retirement benefits.”
