EVENTS Rebels Honored as Best Bowlers Eighty bowlers and their chief rooters (wives and dates) attended the annual bowling awards banquet and dance on May 12th at the old Brevard Country Club. Feasting, election of new officers, award announcements (trophies hadn’t arrived), and danc ing highlighted the evening. The Rebels were honored as top team of the year. The Rebels (Ken McCoy —Cap tain, Tom Buchanan, Carl Collins, Tommy Hollingsworth, Bill Buell, and John Brinkley) topped the league standings for the second straight year. The X-Rays (Billie Johnson —Captain, Charles Robinson, Frank Wells, Jim Monteith, and Joe Saunders) were close on their heels in second place separated from the winners by just two games. New officers, elected for the 1972-73 season, are Steve Smith (President), Claude Young (Vice Pres ident), and Chan Taylor (Secretary- treasurer). II Bowling’s big “3”— President, VP, Secretary-Treasurer. Du Ponters Show Bowling Prowess Du Ponters stand on top in two categories in the Central Carolina Open Bowling Tournament held at Asheboro, N. C. from May 13th thru August 1st. Tommy Hollingsworth has high set with 696. Tommy, Ken McCoy, Tom Buchanan, Steve Warren, and Paul Howard (non-Du Ponter from Brevard) have a team score of 3222 — that’s hard to beat! 4 The Champs Final league standings and top TOP AWARD WINNERS award winners are as follows: TEAM STANDINGS Won L 1.
