PEOPLE What’s Happening Around The Plant? IN ERD . . . The employment section has been busy interviewing job applicants as laborers . . . Nev Fuliehan, back from Rochester, joined ERD as Staff Assistant. . . Chan Hubbard cameto ERD from Finishing as Employee Relations Assistant. IN ACCOUNTING . . . The Xerox machine has been moved down to the mailroom for greater convenience of use by both clean area and outside office personnel. IN CASTING ... All Casting personnel were rewarded with coffee and donuts in Sept, for reaching the 250,000 injury free expo sure hours point in the off-the-job safety awards program . . . Ernie Lee transferred to Casting from Control Maintenance as “C” Shift Supervisor. . . Elmer Holtzclaw has been detailed to Group Supervisor on “A” Shift, No. 2 Line . . . Paul Patterson has been detailed to Warehouse Supervisor . . . Ginger Levi joined Casting as Quality Control Clerk. IN FINISHING . . . Shift operators and supervision from No. 8 Chopper have been trained to operate No. 12 Chopper. This new automated high speed chopper is now being run in for production work. IN RESEARCH ... Du Pont consultant Prof. L. Slifkin from the Physics Dept., UNC-Chapel Hill, visited Brevard in Sept, to offer views on Brevard Research and Process Control programs. IN CONTROL MAINTENANCE . . . Bill Boggs joined the Project Section from the Power Area . . . Internal moves have been Jim Hendricks to Control Shop Supervisor, Jack Harron to Engineering Supervisor, and Jerry Stamey to Controls Engineer... All Shift Control Mechanics and the Bob Hale’s Day Group are being trained on electronics of No. 12 Chopper. I o Cl Jr Super Baby Bassinet IN GENERAL MAINTENANCE . . . Several General Mechanics spent a couple of months, on their own time, making a “super bassinet” from scrap stainless steel for Doris Jones who will be leaving soon for pregnancy. A shop presentation was made . . . General Mechanics and Con struction joined forces to upgrade the Guion House to make it more adequate for year-round shift parties and the annual DERA Picnic. IN THE CAFETERIA . . . Servomation is planning a jolly Halloween Special for Oct. 31st. IN PROCESS CONTROL ... Joe Vokoun, Los Angeles Marketing Manager, Western District, visited Brevard in Sept, to report on recent Sales experience with Brevard Products and the increasingly successful Daylight Film Handling System. Customers are responding well to improvements in Cronex® 4 and overall high quality of Brevard film ... Jan Westall and John Link provided candy and cigars to their associates recently to announce the arrival of Natasha Renee Westall and John David Link, both born in Sept. John Golden, Assistant Plant Manager, has returned to Brevard after 3 years at the Glasgow Site in Delaware. He is happy to be back and has been actively renewing old acquaintanceships with many friends both on the Plant and in the community. On the job, he is pleased to see several significant plant improvements since his previous tenture at Brevard. The addition of 2B Coater with improved coating tech nology and new job opportunities are par" ticularly pleasing. His family is also happy to be back in the wonderful mountain area where they enjoy four seasons living. John says the pleasant mountain coolness along with the refreshing rainfall is a real contrast to the hot, dry climate of the Delaware flatlands. They’ve enrolled their 9 year old son, Jamey, in the fourth grade at Valley HiM Elementary School and have rejoined the Church of the Nazarene in Hendersonvills- They plan to reside in Haywood Forest as soon as their new home is available.
