BREVARD PLANT ■, OUPDNT cnoiK9(4 FOTOFAX ONEX Vol. 9, No. 1 E. I. Du Pont De Nemours & Company, Inc., Brevard, N. C. January, 1976 1976 PLANT SAFETY THEME IS. .. WORK TOGETHER FOR SAFETY IN '76 SAFETY EMBLEM. The 1976 Plant Safety Program aims to have each individual employee feel he or she is a member of an area team working for safe performance in the coming year. The theme "Work Together For Safety In '76" announces this intent. Posters outlining the program will be placed on all area bulletin boards. The Plant Safety Program subcommittee (Jim Hendrix - chairman) lists four topics on these posters to introduce each quarter. The other 2 months of the quarter are left open so areas can pursue their own special safety needs. Key topics used to introduce each quar ter are Responsibilities (January), Observa tions (April), Actions (July), and Attitudes (October). BREVARD EMPLOYEES GIVE ALL TIME HIGH UNITED FUND DONATION Brevard Plant employees donated $33,105.75 toward the 1976 United Fund Campaign goal of $32,000. This contri bution was an all time high for the Brevard Plant. Congratulations to each employee who gave and to the 73 employees who volun teered to help by serving in key roles as campaign solicitors. IN THIS ISSUE THREE JOIN 25 YEAR CLUB 2 19 NEW MECHANIC GRADS 3 FIRST AID ATTENDANTS 4 PLANT PROMOTIONS 5 SAFETY 6 DERA DOINGS 7,8 The significance of each topic is . . . • Responsibilities - Both areas and individuals must accept their share of responsibilities for safety. • Observations - Hazardous acts or conditions observed by individuals must be corrected by areas. • Actions - Individuals must act safely and areas must guide them to do so. • Attitudes - Areas and individuals must have a receptive attitude toward constructive criticism about safety. With these key topics in mind, let's all make a resolution together to look, think, and act with a responsible safety attitude in 1976. WORK TOGETHER IN Drive co-chairmen Elmer Buller and Bill Huters cited three main reasons for the phenomenal success in this year's campaign. These are: 1. Four out of five employees chose to give. 2. Twenty two groups had 100% parti cipation (a much greater number of groups had all but 1 or 2 contribu tors). 3. There were 122 "Fair $hare" givers. "The record pledge was a remarkable display of employee concern for community needs especially in this period of upset in the national economy", said the co-chair men. They added, "As a result, agencies receiving our help through United Fund gifts will be able to continue and extend their services to the community. This is where the final success is best seen." To all employees who gave to the United Fund Drive . . . "Thanks to you it's working!"
