Gridders to Engage Rivals From High Point This Afternoon. Director of Vocational Education Will Become Supervisor of Personnel Training With TVA. SCHEDULED FOR 3 O’CLOCK Making its final appearance in a home game for the season, the Purple 'Whirlwind eleven will engage its arch rivals from igh Point High School at the Memorial stadium this afternoon in a 'Western conference grid clash. The kickoff is scheduled for 3 o’clock. The Purple and Gold gridmen must defeat the Black Bisons from High Point today to remain in the race for conference laurels. In case Charlotte high's circuit-leading 'Wildcats should be upset by Winston-Salem in their game and the locals should defeat the Pointers, the 'lYhirlwinds would move into a tie for the loop leadership with Charlotte. Nevertheless, a defeat to day would definitely eliminate the 'Whirlwinds from a chance at the title. Despite the fact that the Purple and Gold eleven rank as favorites tor this afternoon’s clash, the contest should be a nip-and-tuck affair. The Black Bisons, laden with a powerful and dangerous aerial attack, can always be counted on to play their best game of the sea son against the 'Whirlwinds, and this game should be no exception. Captain Charlie Baker, star halfback, will be singing his swan song as a high school grid performer before a home crowd today. Baker, who has been out standing in the 'Whirlwinds’ lineup for the past two campaigns, will be lost to the team, after this season, through graduation. The Purple and Gold gridders Will Ting down the curtain on their present schedule by meeting Barium Springs there next Friday. Although facing one of their most formidable opponents -of the-season in the Orphanage aggre gation, the locals will be seeking to close a successful campaign with a victory. 'Why, your hostess might think yon didn’t “like” it. (As a matter of fact “like” is no word for it—but of course, you can’t afford to be impolite.) Accordingly never glance at the oys ter, lest you change your mind; jab quickly at the “delicacy” with your fork —'invariably you’ll hook one—and put it in your mouth. That is, if you get that far—the o,ystGr is a little tempera mental himself, especially about explor ing your most composite interior. He will even go so far as to slip into your lap ; but even as yon are praying that the floor will open its mouth and swal low him up for yon—^there he is—and you are under obligation to begin all over again. In conclusion, let us say that the object of {he entire business is to get the oyster past your lips—after that, leave the rest to providence, and, of course, to the oyster.
