Xovember 21, 1941 HIGH LIFE Page Seven Amateur Printer Discovered Operating Home Print Shop Specializing' in personal stationery and calling cards, Hack All)right and Preston McLaird, members of t)ie local student l)ody, operate a home printing shop at 1949 Battleground avenue. Starting their vocation several years ago, the hoys have acquired many “tricks of the trade’’ u'hich enahle the two to turn out tickets, cards, sta tionery, posters and other printed mat ter. The equipment of the shop, valued at $150, symoblizes .vears of work and sac- ritice. Albright and McLaird obtained the machinery from here and there at one time or another during the course of three years. Letterheads Meet With Approval Attractive heads originated by the young i)rinters for stationery of various clubs and societies about the school such as Quill and Scroll, High Life, and the Gilliawanas, met with instant ap proval of the groui)S. Orders for ])er- sonalized stationery from teachers, stu dents, and other Greensl)oro ptople make their way to the printing house each day. The boys devote their leisure time to experimenting with new ideas, filling orders, and studying the technique and mechanics of the printing vocation. Draws Book Jacket 20 Lost Books Return To Local Library Shelf As a result of eaiupaigniiig the past three weeks, 20 of the 1,111 lost hooks have been returned to the school library and have been re|)laced on the shelves. Mrs. Heat- rice Hall, school libniiian, hopes that the students will continue to cooperate in bringing these books in and asks that students make a final effort to retrieve the lost vol umes. Party, Dinner Planned By Three Hi-Y Clubs Strenuou.s activitie.s arc .scheduled for the week by the Senior Hi-Y club, according to an announcement made Tue.sday by Kill Saunders, Senior club president. A dance to be given tonight hy the Sea well junior club, movies shown for the Senior club, and a din ner meeting next Alonday for juniors are included on the organization’.s agenda. The Seawell club’s dance at the country par's will be the first event of this kind for the school year. ■‘The Battle of Prance” and “Camp Scenes at Xawakwa” will he depicted in motion pictures at the Monday meeting of the senior group. At the next meeting of the juniors both clubs will participate in a supper to be served at the Y.M.C.A. The Sea- well junior club has been functioning without a leader during the month of November, but it is expecting the re turn of .1. T. Seawell, adviser, in the near future. AVhen Alonzo Scpiires, of the T"ni- versity of North Carolina, appeared on a recent Fred Allen program as win ner of a state-wide amateur contest. Squires brought with him two gifts of Greensboro's Mayor Huger King—a cot ton night-gown and a pinch of tobacco. Allen told Scpures to inform his hon or the mayor that he gratefully appre ciated his exceilent choice in selecting night apparei, and that the gown— I especialiy the monogram—fitted per- I fectly.
