May 26, 1939 HIGH LIFE Page Five TWELVE STUDENTS WIN IN BUSINESS CONTEST Greensboro took four first places, two seconds, and six thirds in the Business Education contest held recently in the North Carolina high schools, while Dunn high received the silver trophy, which was awarded the school that had the most team winners. Of the 8,000 participants, seventy-three won prizes. Each student in typing, short hand, bookkeeping, commercial law, salesmanship, and general business took the test, and the best papers from each school were sent to Wom en’s College to be judged. Victors in the state from Greensboro were: typing, class C, Beverly Hower ton and L. E. Dempsey; accuracy, D. E. Dempsey; shorthand, class B, Mable Ligon and Marjorie Mumford; book keeping, class A, Phillip Levine; com mercial law, Margaret Sigmon; sales manship, Marie Coe; general business, Margaret Sigmon, Marian Gibbs, and Phillip Levine. The school also won the team award in general business. Contest Winners Announced. In a contest held recently in Mrs. Peebles’ typing 5 classes, the following results were announced : second period, Eugenia Ransey’s team lost to Norman Troxler’s group ; third period, Wileman Ehley’s side lost to Jeanne Blackburn’s ; and seventh period, Beatrice Pearson’s group won over Jimmy Boyles’ division.
