Was sail!” the GHS Choral De partment is inviting the pu blic to begin the Holiday Season this year by attend ing the second annual Grimsley High School Mad rigal Dinner. The festivities will be held November 28 and 29 at the First Christian Church on West Market Street from 7:30-10:30. Re servations are to be made through Ms. Force, and the cost is $10 per person. Invited to return to the fifteenth century for a cour tly dinner, participants are High Life Grimsley Senior High School 801 Westover Terrace Greensboro, N.C. 27408 Volume LV, Number 4 Wednesday, November 26, 1980 encouraged to dress in per iod costumes as are the performers. For the men this would include longsleeved shirts, tunic tops, shorts, long tights, and pointed shoes. Men’s dress was more flamboyant than wo men’s for the ladies cos tumes include long dresses, empire waists and long prin ted hats. Couples will be announced and taken to their table by their personal servant. A Lord and Lady will preside over tables of eight persons, GHS Madrigals, court jug glers, magicians, acrobats, and an authentic sword fight are a few of the evening’s highlights. According to Choral Director Ms. Marta Force, ‘ ‘It was a delightful affair for last years’ 100 attendents, and even more fun and frolics are expected for this year!” Student Council Discusses Activities Booster Club representa tion, the Little Four Dance, and School Beautiful were three topics most recently discussed by the Student Council. School Beautiful is the project that the Student Coimcil would like to emp hasize the most this year. Interclub Council President, Chris Payne, said all School Beautiful plots will be reas signed to clubs after they have been mapped over. Payne also mentioned that presently the parking lot is in need of a clean-up. School Beautiful also includes co operation on the part of the students by putting trash in its place in order to keep the campus clean. Catherine Evans, Pep Board Chairman, attended the last Booster Club meet ing and reported to Council that representation from each sport presently active is needed at the meetings. The Booster Club is a groups of parents and supporters in terested in sports, team schedules, and activities. The Little Four Tourna ment will be held mid-Dec ember this year. (Carrier photo) Grimsley Clubs Plan Many Projects French Club Grimsley’s French Club, L’Acdeme Francaise, held its second meeting on Nov ember 13. Guest speaker was Dr. Roch Smith, pro fessor of Romance Langu ages at UNC-G. Dr. Smith spoke to the members about cultural traditions in Que bec. The December meeting will include French carolling and the club’s annual Christ mas party. SSBAG “We will all work toge ther. . were the conclud ing words Dr. Ken Newbold shared with the 1980 SSBAG committee at its first leader ship training meeting held October 24. SSBAG repre sents the students in dis cussing systemwide pro blems such as scheduling, lunches, and the present school calendar. English Seminar Ms. Lynn Tanner, of Grimsley’s English Depart ment, and Mr. Herbert Haz- elman, former GHS band director, were guest spea kers for a seminar held in Mrs. Mary Tom Hoffler’s second period World Litera ture class November 5 and 6. A common endeavor will be the maintenance of an assigned plot on the school grounds. Many clubs will also participate in the Christ mas Toys Program spon sored by GYC. # Beginning this year, the Exchangettes are sponsoring ‘Whirlies of the Month.” Each month they select a student and a faculty mem- aer who have displayed out standing school spirit and ire deserving of recognition. Fhe Exchangettes also bake food twice a month to put in the teacher’s lounge to, ac cording to president Missy Chandler, “sweeten up the teachers.” * * Hi- The Exchange Club, under the leadership of David Doc kery, has chosen to sell mugs as their fund-raising project. Some of the members sold T-shirts at the City Stage Celebration in October as a commimity service. * # Selling Grimsley T-shirts was a successful fund-rais- mg project for the Y-Teens this year. Led by president Elesa Brandenburg, the Y- Teens plan to sing Christmas carols at EvergreensNursing Home. The Club also plans to hold a fashion show in May. # # * The Serteens have been busy selling candles. The money earned is to be contri buted to the Sertoma Club in memory of Mike Barber’s father. Directed by president Glenn Gorham, the Serteens plan to sponsor a Christmas party at a nursing home.
