Page 10, AC Phoenix, October 1990 Bishop Idahosa Visits The Triad By M.A. Pharr Bishop Benson Idahosa, founder of the Church of God Mission International Benin City, Nigeria made a visit to the Triad on Monday Octobe'' 15, 1990. Bishop Idahosa has pioneered the estab lishment of about 5,000 chur(;hes with a total menihershlp of close to 5 million. By faith he laid the foundation of a 20,000 seat Faith Center in Benin City. Today, with the prayers and support of his part ners throughout the world, the complex has been translated into a reality. Dr. Idahosa’s motto is “Evangelism, our supreme task." Caisades play an impor tant part in Dr. Idahosa's ministry. He is involved in some type of caisade at least once a month. His goal is to reach all the the state capitals of Nigeria and all of the na tions of the continent of Africa. As a Black African the doors of the nations of Africa are wide open to him. He has minis tered in over 70 coun tries to this date. Dr. Idahosa is a well- read brother. He has a Diploma of Divinity from Christ for the Nations Institute in Dallas which he attended in 1971; Doctor of Divinify from Word of Faith College in New Orleans, 1981; a Doctor of Laws degree from Oral Roberts Bishop Idahosa University in March 1984. He has obtained various degrees from the International University in Brussels, Belgium. He is president of Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Idahosa came to Winston-Salem to speak at an evangelism work shop which was spon sored by the New Covenant Church in Winston-Salem. “Each citizen of this country should look to God for change In society," said Idahosa. Idahosa served as di rector of the PTL’s nine officers in Africa. He ac knowledged that the problems of Nigeria (hunger, iTliteracy). “Officials are none con cerned with climbing to the top of their political ladders than with taking care of the people they represent," he said. "The whole universe is in trouble. It's not just Winston-Salem." Idahosa praised the efforts of local ministers for their efforts to fight crime, drugs and racial problems in Winston- Salem. “The whole uni verse is in trouble. It's not just Winston- Salem," he said. “The church is the final an swer to the problems of fhe universe."
