That is the date for the annual Favorite Artists Auction & Gala. Pre sented by High Point Arts Council and beauti ful art and craft items with a gala evening of fine food and fun. Reservations are now being taken for this event which benefits High Point Arts Council and its Theatre Art Gal leries. Well known artists and craftspersons are creat ing work for the^ction. Most of the artists who are represented are pro fessionals are creating work especially for the silent auction. Among those who are submit ting work for the Fa vorite Artists Auction & Gala are: Henry LWc; Pa tricia Bodle; Mary Fay Bodenheimer; Barbara Cullen; Ann Davis; Bernie Stadium; Keith Rose: B. Chandler Goibe; Sue Seamon; Cathy Melesh; Andrea Whefess-Dunham; David DovKfy; Edward L. Parker; Marianne Royle; Lucy Spencer; Robert H. Stone; Jeff Hankins: Eliz^th Michael. Items up tor auction include paintings, pot tery, photography, sculpture and fiber art. Those interested in viewing what will be available may do so dropping by the Theatre Art Galleries 10 a.m, to 5 p.m. on November 1 and 2. One of the highlights of the event will be a drawing for two very special items, a portrait by portrait artist Nancy Kirk and a painting by artist Ellen Freeze. Tickets for the drawing can be purchased by contracting High Point Arts Council. Tickets to the Favorite Artists Auction & Gala are $17.50 each (^5.00 per couple) and may be purchased by contacting High Point Arts Coundi at 919-889- 2787. The Auction & Gala will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, at the Theatre Art Galleries located at 220 East Commerce Avenue (the High Point Theatre complex). Freedom Explosion To Hit Triad A "Freedom Explosiort' wiU hit the Twin City Friday, Nov. 2, at 8 p.m. at the Benton Convention Center when the Winston- Salem Urban League Guild presents its 33rd production of the Ebony Fashion Fair Show. The famed traveling fashion show is pro duced by Ebony magazine and is spon sored annually by the Winston-Salem Urban League Guild to benelit its scholarship fund. Eunice W. Johnson, producer and director of the show, personally selects fashions from the exclusive collec tions of famed desigir- ers such as Frartk Composto, Bill Blass, Bob Mackie, Giorgio Sant' Angelo, Fabrice, Halston and Bruce Oldfield. Mrs. Johnson, the wife of Ebony publisher John H. Johnson, pur chases the most Spec tacular fashions avail able for the show. More than 200 exquisite garments, complete with the latest accessories, will be fea tured. The show will in clude 10 female models and two male models. Shayla Simpson will serve as the commenta tor for the evening. The Winston-Salem Urban League Guild, an auxIBaty of the local afUT iate, began sponsoring the show in 1957. Joan Cardwell is general chairman for this year’s show; Velma Friende is Guild president During the show. Miss Ebony Fashion Fair 1990 will be crowned. The local student selling the most tickets to the production wins the ti tle. ' Tickets are available from any Guild member and at the Urban League office, 201 W.
