How do you use black history?
photos by L. B. Speas
Black history is very
important. A peoples
history identifies who
they are. So it is very
important for a people to
have knowledge of self
because everything is
relative to self.

Because black history
is a part of my her
itage, I use black his
tory as a role model
and example for my
life. The struggles
and achievements
made in history by
many African
Americans opened
many doors and
opportunities for my
life.

Black history and
God are the two most
important things in
my life. I am in col
lege now to increase
my knowledge of
black history and in
other areas of educa
tion. I want to be a
strong black woman
to be a role model for
all the youngsters
growing up today.
With God and knowl
edge of our heritage
we can increase our
strength and change
the world.

Because black his
tory is what I live
by. Black people
have made a differ
ence in this society
but there are people
now that don’t
understand that we
have set up scholar
ships for African
Americans to give
opportunities for
school.

I use black history in
a number of ways.
The first would be to
educate others about
the accomplishments
of blacks.

Ii\ Loving Memory o! Mother
June 17, 1906-Sept. 22, 1980
Mother is a splendid miracle man cannot
understand, another wondrous evidence of God's tender
guiding hand. As long as our hearts can remember, as
long as dear ones care, we cannot forget the love we
have for her. she is with us everywhere. So Mother,
sleep on and take your rest, we love you but God loved
you best. For we dl know that God does everything well
for those who love him and earth has no sorrow that
