Page 18 April 1998 The AC Phoenix National Youth Achievers Induction Ceremony by Jeannette T. Lewis ^ The Pfafftown Chapter of the National Youth Achievers held its induction ceremony at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 810 Highland Ave. The new members were Teagan A. Rhodes, daughter of the Rev. Lenton and Pamela Rhodes; Brittany Green, daughter of Bernadette Green; Adrienne C. Hopson, daughter of Dr. Linda Bowman- Hopson; and Kaneisha Connelly, daughter of Ingrid C. Moore. The Pfafftown Chapter of the National Youth Achievers recognizes young women who represent scholarship, leadership, integrity and service. The organization partic ipates in service projects throughout the community such as the Soup Kitchen , Make- A-Wish, day care centers. Love Baskets for needy families, fund raising activities, cultur al experiences, and Community Clean-up Day. Led by the parent organization of the Pfafftown Chapter of the National Women of Achievement, these young ladies are instructed on their responsibilities as National Young Achievers. Having been rec ognized and set apart as role models for other young ladies, they must continue the struggle to be high achievers in as many areas of their life as possible. Under the guid ance of the parent organization, these young achievers will be mentored for leadership. Advisors are Achievers Emma Norman, Ann Moye, Betty Johnson and Valeria Dove. The president of the Pfafftown Chapter is Jeannette T. Lewis. Other members present at the ceremony included Achiever Lucille Gwyn and Marsh Coles. Installation of officers for the 1998 year were conducted and the offi cers of the NYA are as follows: Varnette Tetterton, president; Teagan Rhodes, vice- president; Demetria Dove, secretary; Ryan Littlejohn, treasurer; Charnette Tetterton, assis tant treasurer. The National Youth Achievers meet every fourth Monday of the month.
