Fisher, a Republican Senatorial Candidate believes she’s the best advocate for the needs of NC in the Congressional legislative process. Keeping to her son Charles’ (who is a 16 year old campaign manager) schedule, Fisher has to date walked in and visited 70 of the 100 state counties and 123 cities, keeping the cost under $5,000 for 2001. As the fund raising disclo sures of other candidates point out and the revealing ties of candidates to Enron, Spring Mills which has moved many of their operations out of the state costing many here their jobs, pharmaceutical companies which help keep the cost of medicines high, self-service PAC’s, etc., it will become clear that Dr. Ada M. Fisher, a Republican Candidate, has not become compromised in her ability to vote the best interest of the citizens of NC in the US Senate. As a mother of two draft age sons and a veteran of service to the Veterans Administration Medical Center system. Dr. Fisher is quite concerned that we need someone who brings these perspectives to the legislative table as we talk of expanding the terrorism war effort. Flaving visited 70 of the state’s 100 counties to date, Fisher is quite clear in noting her training in terrorism, bio-terrorism, nuclear radiation and other “Homeland Defense” issues is unmatched by other candidates. Domestic issues are also Dr. Fisher’s strength and she states that she is Ada M. Fisher the only candidate who has spelled out through her 13-Steps to Recovery plan jobs which can’t be shipped over seas or sent to Mexico; ways to make Health Care affordable for small businesses, as well as working people, not just for the elderly; and the need for protection in social security so that budgets aren’t balanced on the backs of those with whom we have made covenants for their personal security. Fisher is adamant in noting, nothing will change as long as people keep electing lawyers and professional politicians to Congress. We need to get back to the citizen electorate the founding fathers of this great nation had in mind. Fisher believes it’s time for a changel We need to put democracy back in the election process and go back to the right way of doing things, giving people an opportunity to hear the candidates in forums and let the people decide. Dr. Fisher has no doubt that when people hear her speak, they will know as others who have had a chance to hear her have learned, that she is no light weight on issues of the state and nation and that her passion is for the people of NC. in addressing the problems of North Carolina from the US Senate, we will see in Fisher’s tenure there, the change we hope to be. Fisher clearly puts her actions where her mouth is and notes she is probably the only candidate for the US Senate who has taken up the President’s call to join the USA Freedom Corps. She not only talks the talk but Ada M. Fisher, MD., MPH also walks the walk. Ada M. Fisher, MD., MPH a native North Carolinian with deep ties to this state was born and raised in Durham, NC having enrolled in the public schools there and graduated from Hillside High School. Fisher finished college at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in Biology and received certifica tion for secondary education in mathematics and science. Afterwards, Fisher completed the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison, Family Medicine training from the University of Rochester’s affiliate Family Medicine Program at the Strong Memorial Hospital, and later received a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and-Public Health where Dr. D. A. Henderson the Director of the current USA bioterrorism program was dean. Opting for a career of public sen/ice. Dr. Fisher has served in many areas of the state from the east with the Public Health Service as the first black physician in Duplin County and the only one doing any obstetrics for several- years. Piedmont Triangle Area as the Alcohol Detoxification Director at the John Umstead Hospital serving a 17 county catchments area, and the west as the Chief of Occupational Health Services (and a VISN consultant) for the Heffner Veterans Administration Medical Center at Salisbury. Dr. Fisher has been instrumental in helping over 375 students attend college in NC and 40 plus go to medical school. Always one to give back, Fisher is extensively involved in community work whether for the school board of Rowan-Salisbury Schools to which she donates back to them her salary. Historically Black Colleges and Universities in which she has established over eight endowed scholarships, etc. Ada Fisher states, my work reflects my belief system. My efforts also, in part date to my parsonage experiences and having been the daughter of one of the state’s and Durham’s most respected Baptist minister’s, the Rev. Dr. Miles Mark Fisher and his community minded wife, Mrs. Ada V. F. Fisher. As my father used to preach. I’m going to “keep on keeping on.” B6&J ¥)u can tell we imni your business.
