Page 30 March 2003 The AC Phoenix by Sartia Stover Focusing on Success? Try this— This book of the iaw shail not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shait meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to ail that is written therein; for the thou shait make thy way prosperous and then thou shait have Good Success” Quoted from one of the greatest works of literature, the Holy Bible. Surge of Success has marched through January and February and now we are marching in March. It’s the third month of the year, already, and I know you have success stories to teli. Take a moment and reflect, but.. . not long. Remember your success is contingent on the variabies in your life, and what you must overcome to reach your goals. Each person’s story comes with a different triumph. Search yourself for the role model that lies within you, and inspire others to live. This month as we Surge into Success, we will be lending you thoughts from the schooi of life. Read and Remember; Louise Hay says, “I find that when we realiy iove and accept and approve of ourseives exactly as we are, then everything in life works. Acceptance is the act of embracing what iife present to you with a good attitude.” Eieanor Roosevelt says, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. It’s not what happen to you , it’s what you do about it.” Susy Prudden says. Your body is your vehicle for life. As long as you are here, live in it. Love, honor, respect and cherish it, treat it weil, and it wili serve you “in-kind.”. If you abuse your body it will break down in various ways until you learn the lesson of respect. Bruce Springsteen says, “It ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive!” Sometimes I forget the importance of pleasures as I race through the demands and commitments of my life.” Jon Kabat-Zinn says, “When experience is viewed in a certain way, it presents nothing but doorways into the domain of the soul.” Openness means being receptive. Life will present you with innumerable lessons, none of which will be useful to you unless you recognize them and are open to their inherent value.” Ralph Waldo Emerson says, “I will do strongly before the sun and moon whatever inly rejoices me and the heart appoints. There are no neutral actions. Even the smallest gesture has a direction to it, leading you cioser to your path or farther away from it, whether you reaiize it or not.” Author Unknown says, “I cried because I had no shoes until I saw a man who had no feet” As you work towards aligning yourself with your own individual truth, you will be required to move out of the compiaining of “it’s not fair,” if you want to move toward serenity,” Harold Kushner says “ You nourish your soui by fulfilling your destiny. Grace comes when you understand and accept that the universe aiways creates circumstances that lead every person to his or her own true path, and that everything happens for a reason as part of a divine pian. Remember as you read, there is a divine pian for your life. Surge into Success. Information this month was taken from Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott’s book, if iife is a Game These are the Rules. Until next time Sartia Think First Straight From the Heart • “Straight From the Heart” continues to share poetry and other literary works by local artists. Enjoy the worid of the “Muse” in rhyme, rhythm, prose, laughter as we feature different artist each month. This month, we wili feature Linda Beverly, a 2nd grade school teacher at Rural Hall Elementary School, and Kan-D a local resident of Winston-Salem, who loves to write inspirational poems. CELEBRATION by Sartia I can see you in me, and me in you. Woven together by the Master Weaver. The tiny, colorful threads of the Universe. It’s the Fabric of our African Heritage and The Mysterious Wonder of the Human Experience Come, let us celebrate one another. LOVE by L. C. Beverly L - is for a heart leaping when that special one comes into view, the joy that fills you completely and makes you feel brand new. O - is for the one and only that makes the world seem so right even if danger is ever present morning, noon, or night. V - is for violins playing whenever that special one speaks. The voice is music to the ears and movement to the feet. E - is for elevation the feeling of walking on a cloud, when the name of that special one is spoken with a few present, or in a crowd. Love is what we need. Four letters in a word so small. But what you do with Love Can Make Others Feel Ten Feet Tall! A MOTHER’S PRAYER by “Kan-D” I’ve made such a mess of my life. How do I keep my children from making such a mess of their lives? How can I help them? How can I tell them that you’re all they need in the midnight hour when I never held on long enough to see if you were all I needed? How can I get them to believe that you’re a comforter when I never let you comfort me? How can I make them understand that you can fill all their voids when I haven’t let you fill mine yet? How can I make them realize that you have everything under control when I’m still trying to control my life, my way? How can I help them turn to you, and come what may, when I turn astray when troubles come my way? How can I convince them that you wili wipe away all their tears when I am still using tissue to wipe away my tears? How can I let them know that you will mend their broken hearts, when my heart still feels like it has been crushed into tiny pieces of egg shells? All because I still think 1 can fix it my way. Well, Daddy, my way is not working. I need you to fix it (my life). I broke it because 1 did what you told me NOT to do. So, now I need you Lord. I need you to be ali I need in the midnight hour. I need you to be my comforter. I need you to fill all my voids. I need you to take life under control and wipe away all tears. I need to trust in you enough to let you mend my broken heart. I need you to do all of this so I can tell my girl to turn to you come what may. Help me to save Myself, So I can save my babies!!!
