The AC Phoenix November 2004 Page 3 THE SALVATION ARMY HOLIDAY TOY SHOP ANTICIPATES INCREASED DEMAND LOR TOYS THIS CHRISTMAS The Salvation Army, Winston-Salem has announced it is launching a com munity-wide effort to handle the expected increased demand for toys for needy families this Christmas. This demand will be fueled in large part with the closing of the Christmas Cheer tory Shop and Clearing House. Earlier this year, Betty Deal announced her retirement and the closing of the Christmas Cheer Toy Shop and Clearing House. “The strain will increase significantly on each agency in town to make sure every family possible received assistance,” stated Major Dan Proctor, Commander of The Salvation Army Winston Salem. The Christmas Cheer Toy Shop and Clearing House has been a mainstay of Winston-Salem for decades. Each year it is estimated over 1,000 families have been helped through its efforts. “We have been working diligently to prepare with other agencies in town for this Christmas knowing there would be greater stress on our resources,” Major Proctor went on to explain. “We have met with Betty Deal to ensure a smooth transition, and to anticipate as much as possible the impact on our store.” The Salvation Army anticipates 3,000 Winston-Salem families will look to The Salvation Army Holiday Toy Shop for assistance this year. If you would like to help provide toys for needy children through The Salvation Army Holiday Toy Shop, you may contact Robin Pardella at 336- 723-6366, ext. 109. kingphotocenter.com I Ticin a An Associate Consultant's Newspaper Established 1982 Rodney J.
