Bids Issued By A Ipha Kappa Gamma Alpha Kappa Gamma, the Na tional Honorary Fraternity for I.eadership at Queens, has been quite busy lately. President Mar garet Johanson has been calling meeting after meeting, and as a r-'sult, bids were issued Saturday to three girls. Those selected worthy of membership were Jessie Smith, Marguerite Brown, and Elizabeth Beckman. At the Halloween Carnival last week. Alpha Kappa Gamma was outstanding. As the treasury was in reduced circumstances at the time, the members decided to make money at the Carnival to contribute as their club’s portion toward the Day Student’s Hall. They had a booth and sold “hot dogs” with all the accompanying relish and seasoning. This was a huge success and the group made about five dollars from their sales at the booth. This was a funny week-end the dying gasp of October and the chilling blast of November com billed in just a short two days. So many of the girls went off to take their last October privilege or their first November week-end. Huagha Lee and Beaty went down to Sumter so Beaty could have her eyes examined. Hope they’ll soon be better, so you’ll be able to get rid of those head aches, Beaty. Louisa Drenan was at last happy when she drove up in front of her own home — she’d been having waves set and been mak ing more plans! Evelyn McMillian and Kather ine Brown were hostesses to the Kappa Deltas last Sunday at a feed. Catherine Dickerson didn’t have to spend the week-end on the campus as she was so worried over doing. Wonder if she had a better time ? Kat settled down long enough to give the grandest feed, with Evelyn Koonce, down at the Alpha Delta Pi House, Sunday. Helen Wall went over to States ville — did she learn anything about music from any teachers at Michell, or should it be plural? Lib Mason just goes home the time—isn’t she a lucky all ol’ person Lillian Zimmerman also went home and let’s hope that she’ll soon be back feeling much better. Mamie Hunter and Grace Shealy took time off before this strenuous week of quarterly quizs to go home. Adeline Wooley and Lib Shel ton made every Chi Omega very comfortable, or should we say un comfortable, after that good feed, Sunday. Gordon Query, Evelyn Archer, and Carmelia Nixon all paid the campus a short visit Saturday. They are teaching in various “bergs” in North Carolina. Laura J. Quattlebaum spent the time in Rock Hill telling the Winthrop girls how much better Queens was than Winthrop. Well, Winthrop is one marvelous col lege all right, but there’s our ol’ school spirit. Lu and Liz gave the Kappa Kappa Chi feed Sunday — can’t you just taste that good ol’ fried chicken ? Little Reid went down to Bates- burg and tried to increase her height by being in uplifting com pany. Martha Tyson went home to Hartsville with Martha Grant— the ol’ suite must have been sorta lonely. Janie Tamberlien had the big gest time sitting ’round the fire relating dormitory experiences to one and all at home. Minna Le Grand, Jo Cornwell, Julia Bynum and little Jimmy Wilson did a big thing when they went home—believe they’re still talking ’bout certain things yet. Janie Bob Gaston left Wednes- day to go on one of the longest possible journeys, almost. She hasn’t been flashing that beauti ful diamond because Woolworth’s had a sale. We think the big event will come off in December —here’s our good wishes for lots of happiness, Janie. Bet you’ll get it too. Helen Vincent and Vivian Hil ton went over to Barium Springs and did they have a big time! Hannah Boylan also went tO; Statesville and also looked over Mitchell and inspected its faculty.: Guests Honored With Afternoon Tea A social event of the week was the tea given Wednesday after noon, from four to six, by the Kappa Kappa Chi Sorority, num ber seven , Sorority Row.
