Miss Hubbard is a brunette—the first brunette that has been May Queen for quite a long time. She is 5 feet, 6 inches. Many students have remarked in her a likeness to Katherine Hepburn, the movie star. Ruth Grover, in her campaign speech, brought out the fact that Mary Steele has all the requisites for a May Queen— she has beauty, charm, poise, dignity, personality, and in telligence. She is president of the Athletic Association, and a member of the day student council. Miss Hubbard is well-known in town for her beautiful voice. She and her other two sisters, Virginia and Grace, sing on the radio over WSOC. She is the daughter of Mrs. Grace K. Hubbard, of Burns ville, N. C. The new ring is all gold. On one shaft is the Day Student Building and the date; on the other is Burwell Hall and the degree. The head of the ring carries the seal of the college.
