(2) The Day Student Coimcil shall have power to summon before it and question any member of the Day Student Body, d. Meetings (1) The Day Student Council shall meet once a month at at time designated by that body and shall be on call. (2) The Day Student Body shall meet the first Thursday of each month during the chapel period. (3) A meeting of the Day Stu dent Council or the Day Student Body may be called by the President at any time that it is deemed neces sary. (4) There shall be no absences from these meetings except in case of absolute necessity at which time the mem ber must be excused by the President. (5) Those members present at any meeting of the Day Student Council or the Day Student Body shall consti tute a quorum. (6) At least a two-thirds vote of the Council shall be re quired in the case of a rec ommendation for expulsion or suspension. In such in stances there shall be a joint meeting of the Council and the Advisory Committee be fore final action is taken. ARTICLE VIII Meetings Section 1 a. A meeting of the Student Government Association shall be held as soon as possible after the opening of college, at which time the President shall explain the purpose and organization of the Association. b. A meeting of this body shall be held during each Wednesday chapel period at which time any Student Government business shall be transacted. c. A meeting of this body shall be held at any time so designated by the President of the Student Body. Section 2. Quorum a. A majority of the members of the Association shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of ordinary business. b. Two-thirds of the members of the Association shall constitute a quorum for any meeting in which an amendment or change in the constitution is voted on. ARTICLE IX Amendments The Constitution may be amend ed by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any meeting held for that purpose, but the amendment must be proposed at lease one week before action taken on it. Order of elections; (1) President of Student Body (2) President of Boarding Stu dent Body, President of Day Student Body (3) President of Student Chris tian Association (4) President of Athletic Asso ciation (5) Honor Council (6) Vice-President of Student Body, Secretary of Student Body, Treasurer of Student Body (7) Boarding Student Council, Day Student Council (8) Student Christian Associa tion Cabinet (9) Athletic Council (10) Editor of Coronet, Editor of Queens Blues, Editor of Queens Quill, Publications Board (11) Class Presidents (12) Literary societies, honorary fraternities, social fraterni ties, and miscellaneous clubs may elect officers at any time after the above elec tions. Pan-Hellenic Council officers depend upon social fraternity elections. (13) Legislature; members at large. b. Method of elections; (1) President of Student Body; The Student Government Asso ciation members shall nominate by secret ballot candidates for the office of President of the Student Body. The two nominees receiving the largest number of votes shall be candidates for the office, and the vote shall be taken by secret ballot. The President shall be elected by a majority vote. (2) President of Boarding Stu dent Body; The President of the Boarding Student Body shall be elected by a plurality vote of the Boarding Student Body. This election shall be conducted in the same manner as that of the President of the Student Body and shall be held after the election of that officer. (3) President of Day Student Body; The President of the Day Stu dent Body shall be elected by a plurality vote of the Day Student Body. This election shall be con ducted in the same manner as that of the President of the Student Body and shall be held at the same time as the election of the President of the Boarding Student Body. (4) President of Student Chris tian Association; See Constitution of Student Christian Association. (5) President of Athletic Asso ciation; See Constitution of Athletic As sociation. (6) Honor Council: The members of Honor Council shall be elected in the same man ner as the President of the Stu dent Body, two being elected each year for a period of two years. (7) Vice - President, Secretary, and Treasurer of Student Body: • The Student Government Asso ciation members shall nominate and elect the Vice-President, Sec retary, and Treasurer of the Stu dent Body in the same method used in the election of the Presi dent of the Student Body. (8) Boarding Student Council: (a) The Senior members of the outgoing Boarding Student Council shall compose a nominating committee. The committee shall make either one or two nominations for the following officers: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Vice-Presi dents, Secretary, and Treas urer. One nomination from the floor is permitted for each office in the final vot ing and may be selected by first voting on all nomina tions made from the floor. The committee shall submit to each class one nomination for their class representative. One nomination from the floor for the final voting is permitted and may be select ed by first voting on all the nominations made from the floor. (b) At the beginning of the second semester, the entire Council shall submit to the Freshman Class one nomi nation for the office of Class Representative. One nomination from the floor will be permitted in the final voting and may be selected by first voting On all nominations -made from the floor. (9) Day Student Council (a) The Senior members of the outgoing Day Student Coun cil shall compose a nomi nating committee. This committee shall nominate a candidate for each of the offices of Coimcil and sub mit them to the Day Stu dent Body. In addition, one nomination from the floor for each office will be per mitted. Should there be more than one nomination a vote of elimination will be necessary. (b) At the beginning of sec ond semester, the entire Council shall submit to the Freshman Class one candi date for the office of Class Representative. One nomi nation from the floor for the final voting is permitted. Should there be more than one nomination from the floor a vote of elimination will be necessary. (10) Student Christian Associa tion Cabinet: See Constitution of Student Christian Association. (11) Athletic Council: See Constitution of Athletic As sociation. (12) Editors of Coronet, Queens Blues, and Queens Quill: (a) For each of these offices one nomination shall be sub mitted to the Student Body by the Publications Board and one nomination shall be made by the Student Body. The Student Body nominee for each of these offices shall be the student receiv ing the highest number of votes from the Student Body. Voting shall be held by secret ballot, and a plu rality of votes shall elect these officers. (The Busi ness Managers of the Pub lications shall be appointed by the outgoing Publica tions Board.) (b) The Editor of the Coronet shall be elected from the in coming Senior Class. The Editors of the Queens ' Blues and Queens Quill shall be elected from the incom ing Junior Class. (c) The four student members of the Publications Board shall be elected from the Editors and from the Busi ness Managers of the three publications. (13) Class Presidents: (a) Elections of the Class Pres idents and others officers of the Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Classes shall be held after the elections of the Editors of the publica tions. (b) Not later than the second week of the new school year the Freshman Class shall elect a Chairman, and she shall hold office until the end of the first quar ter. At the beginning of the second quarter the Freshman Class shall elect a President and other officers. The Vice-President of the Junior Class shall act as Freshman Advisor. (15) Legislature: members at large: (a) The following officers shall be automatically members of Legislature: Student Body President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer; Boarding Student President and First Vice-President; Day Student President and Vice-President; Senior, Jun ior, and Sophomore Class Representatives to Boarding Student Council; and Sen ior, Junior, and Sophomore Class Representatives to Day Student Council. (b) There shall be elected one Representative from each dormitory and three Repre sentatives from the Day Stu dent Body at large. These elections shall take place after the first month of the new school year. (c) Three Faculty Advisors shall be elected by the Student Government Association members in such a manner that there shall always be two old members and one new member on the Com mittee, each to serve a pe riod of two years. In case any faculty advisor leaves ^before the term expires, an other shall be elected at once to serve the full length of the unexpired term of office. (d) In these elections nomi nations shall be made from the floor and the vote shall be taken by secret ballot. A plurality of votes shall elect these Representatives. (16) The May Queen, May Court, May Day Chairman, and Stunt Night Chairmen shall be elected at a time and in a manner prescribed by Athletic Council. (17) (a) All elections shall be held by secret ballot and all of ficers shall be elected by a plurality vote, unless oth erwise specified. (b) All ballots must be signed.
