They are Bruce Miller, president; Mary Thomas, vice-president; and Gwen Dickerson, secretary. The Latin III Club has also been organized. Fifty-two jun iors and seniors have joined the club. This year, for the first time, the I^tin Club had a float in the Home coming parade. The co-chairmen for the float were Pam Minor and Gwen Dickerson. Waverly Barnes, as Mercury, drove the tractor that pulled it. The students that went on the tour to the National JCL Conven tion in New Orleans this summer were Benjie Hester, Linda Monta gue, Wanda Currin, Margie Reinitz, Pam Minor, Lynn Moss, Catherine Royster, Brenda Meadows, and Re becca Winston. They won second place in National publicity at the convention. Margie Reinitz was ap pointed state historian. A report on the convention was broadcast by WOXF. Those par ticipating in it with Mrs. Satterwhite were Benjie Hester, Idnda Montague, Margie Reinitz, and Pam Minor. Students Of Art Classes Learn The Fundamentals So far this year in Art the stu dents have been learning the basic fundamentals of Art such as color, contrast, and value. In Art the students are in a re laxed atmosphere. They have fun while they are working and learn ing. For personal projects, each one in Art made a poster of some type concerning Homecoming and display ed them around the room. The students are looking forward to learning other things this year, such as sculpture, weaving, crafts, ce ramics, and painting. Future Farmers Elect Officers On Wednesday night, September 17, 1969, the J. F. Webb Future Farmers of America held their first club meeting. The item of business was to elect the officers for the 1969-70 school year. There were Eighteen nomina tions from whom six officers were chosen on the following day by all the boys of the Future Farmers of America Club here at Webb High. The slate of officers stands as follows: president, Mike Ellington; vice-president, Alton Daniel; secre tary, Earl Hunter; treasurer, Donald Denny; reporter, Waverly Barnes; and sentinel, Benny Thorpe. After the business was taken care of, a series of cartoons were shown and drinks were served in the shop. In the language department are. Miss Betty Adams (English II), Mrs. Joy Averett (English II and III), Mrs. Bonnie Davis (English II), Mr. Ron Shelley (English I), Miss Joanne Warner (English I and French I), and Mrs. Shirley Shaw (French II and III). In the science and math depart ments are Mr. Donald Lassiter (physics and chemistry), Mrs. Mari lyn Williams (BSCS and biology), and Mr. James Mosley (general sci ence, general math, physical educa tion, and a member of the coaching staff). Mr. Marlin Tate teaches World and U. S. History, as well as being a member of the coaching staff. Mrs. Judy Ross is the Choral and General Music director. Mrs. Samuel Cox (I. V. E.), Mr. John Gooch (Agriculture I and II and Shop), and Mr. Dudley Wil liams (D.E. I and II and Market ing) are in the- vocational depart ment. Mrs. Mary Scott joins our guid ance counselors. Each of these teachers is able and willing to help students in every way they can. Please feel free to call on them for any help you may need, for that is why they are here. Annual Plans Made By French Club Officers for the French Club have been chosen by the French Club members. Dot Williford was chos en president. The new vice-president is Harry Dixon, and Peggy Bryan will serve as the secretary-treasurer. Representatives from several of the French classes were nominated as members of the executive committee. Pat Hancock, Susan Currin, Dowell Godwin, Judy Hancock, Merlin Young, Mike (Juestell, Andy How ard, and Charlie Sloan were the rep resentatives elected, with Pam Cash and Anna Tarry serving as alter nates. This committee met Tuesday af ternoon to plan the French (Club’s activities for this year. At this meeting, French Club dues were de cided upon. Susan Currin was put in charge of the French Homecoming float. This year’s plans for the Mardi Gras were discussed, and the members decided to continue their practice of helping a needy family at Christmas. Future French Club meetings are to be held on the last Friday of each month. CHUCKLES Two monkeys were discusing the theory of evolution.
