JANUARY, 1951 The Caromount News Page Three Wilson News Raw Goods And Mending Departments To The Countiy Theolphius Barnes has given up city life for the country this year. Everyone at the Wilson Plant is looking ahead to getting plenty of eggs, chickens and garden pro duce in the spring. Wliat Luck! Some people are lucky. Mrs. Louise Rhew won the Moose Club Bingo Jackpot of $175.00 just two days before Christmas. Out Of Work Mrs. Viola Walston was out for a week due to infected feet. Christmas Guests Mrs. Katherine Riley had sev eral visitors during the Christmas holidays. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Anthony, Jr., of Rich mond, Va.; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Johnson of Washington, D. C.; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Hawkins of Norfolk, Va., and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Riley of Warrenton. Has Visitors Mr. and Mrs. Newcombe, and daughter, Ann, of Kinston spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Newcombe’s mother, Mrs. Mae Dickerson. Word Of Welcome The entire Wilson Division wishes to welcome Calvin Jones hack to work. He has been out sick lor the past several weeks. New Grandbahies Mrs. Theresia Perdue has an other grandbaby, William Gregory Perdue, born December 19, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Perdue, weight 10 pounds, 10^2 ounces. Mrs. Rosa Vester has another grandson, John Wayne Vester, born December 10, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. Julian Vester. They have two other children, Barby and Becky. Julian Vester is a former employee of the Shipping Depart ment. Visiting In Va. Mrs. Theresia Perdue’s mother, Mrs. Baines, is spending some time in Bowling Green, Va., visiting Herbert Marshall and family. Her bert is in the service, and is a for mer Caromount employee. Home Gathering All of Mrs. Rosa Vester’s chil dren gathered at her home during Christmas. She said they had a wonderful time. Sickness At Home Mrs. Ruth Reid was out for some time nursing Mr. Reid. He under went an operation at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, and he has been sick at home since that time. We wish him a speedy recovery. Moved Mrs. Nina Rogers has moved to 920 Sunset Avenue. Recently she attended the Ice Follies in Raleigh. She said they were wonderful. New Grandpa Knox Ellis is a Grandpa for the first time. Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Maxwell of Clifton, N. J., have a little son, Thomas Marion Max well, Ill, born December 22, 1950 in Clifton. Mrs. Maxwell was Miss Shirley Ellis before her marriage, and also a former Caromount em ployee. Knox says that he can vouch that the baby has strong lungs because he heard him cry over the telephone. Sick Red Sessoms was taken sick on Christmas Day, and had to miss a few days from work. Gone To Farm Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Luper have moved back to the farm and are hoping to do some farming this year on the side. It will be hard work for them but they have bought a tractor and other tools to lighten the labors. New Home Mrs. Ava Brock and Frank Brock (Finishing) have bought a home on Rosewood Avenue, and recently moved in. Congratula tions to you both. Proud Egg Man Poultryman extraordinary is a claim that can be justly made by Herman Atkins (Weaver). Herman has a small flock of New Hampshire pullets he keeps to provide eggs for family use. The pullets are doing so well that he can now feel free to boast about them. They are producing eggs that weigh up to five ounces and which measure 3)4 inches in length. To back up his claim Her man brought some samples around and they were really beauties. Chosen Class Officer The Sophomore Class of Charles L. Coon High School elected new officers to head the class for the year 1950-51. They are Richard Ward, presi dent; Pete Thompson, Jr., vice president; Nancy Gill, secretary; and Joe Ellis, treasurer. Pete Thompson, Jr., is the son of Pete Thompson of the Wilson Division. Anyone having questions about their insurance should contact the Personnel Office. Harry Walker drives the truck to Wilson, and Mrs. Lena B. AValker is employed in the Weaving Hepartment. Harry is showTi here on the left playing the banjo. He said, “vilien I was maiTied I did not think I needed anything but my wife, so I got rid of the banjo; but now thirty-five years later, I reach back and see that I have to get my banjo again. The tune Harry is playing here is “Oh I Never See Maggie Alone.” On the right standing behind Mr. and Mrs. Walker are tlieir children. Left to right they are: Mrs. Florine Bell of Spring Hope; Cleveland (Shipping Department); Raymond of Rocky Mount; and Sidney (Mending Department). Other members of the Walker family (not shown) who work at Caromount are Mrs. Cleveland “Lillie” Walker (Final Examining), and Mrs. Sidney “Violet” Walker (Mending). Congratulations to Mr. and Mi*s.
