DECEMBER, 1955 EDITORIAL BOARD MACON MILLER GEORGE HARPER GEORGE MATTHEWS DOROTHY SMITH Send News for the January Is sue to Personnel Office before Jan uary 10th. ’TIS CHRISTMAS It is Christmas in the mansion, Yule-log fires and silken frocks; It is Christmas in the cottage, Mother’s filling little socks. It is Christmas on the highway. In the thronging busy Mart; But the dearest, truest Christmas Is the Christmas in the heart. THE NEW YEAR We are looking forward to the coining of the New Year especial ly because of the opportunity there is in it for us. None of us felt bigger or better when we read of the losses during October that were due to “reprocessing”. We are all doing a good job, none of us have actually been dilatorv in our work, but we suddenly realize that we will have to put a little more painstaking effort in our work before we have the right to strut again! That is what we all want to do—hold our heads high. ALACRITY There is a word in our lan guage that is perhaps more de scriptive of “good work” than any other. That word is “ALAC RITY”. It means “cheerfully, willingl), and promptly.” For the New Year, we could all do no better than resolve to work with “alacrity” until the word be comes the by-word of every job we touch. Some of us have known each other a long time; some of us are acquaintances of a week or two. The Editorial Board takes this occasion to join each of you in wishing each other a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and in the immortal words of Tiny Tim GOD BLESS US, EVERYONE! The Caromount News To each and all, Peace and Ilappuies$ in thfe' time of Christmas... DECEMBER, 1955 Devotional Thoughts lHHbat Uo (3iv>e With Chyiistmas approaching, we are all no doubt wondering what to give. 1"he children ex cited over what Santa will bring. Dad wonders to whom he can give last year’s tie, which he has never worn, to make room for the new ones he expects, and Mom wondering what to have for Christmas dinner. It seems that at Christmas ]jeople become excited and forget W'hat Christmas really is. They seem to forget that it’s Christ we are to Avorship and not Santa Claus. People are beginning to leave Christ out of Christmas by their lives and by spelling it X-mas. They tell their children all about Santa Claus but fail to tell them about Christ. Ride streets during the eason and see just decorations you see down the Christmas how many honoring Christ It’s time to jjut Christ back in to Christiras. Stop spelling and stop living it “mas.” If you do not know’ Christ as your Saviour then why not let that be your gift this Christmas. Give vour heart to Christ b) repenting of your sins and accept Him as your Sav- After all, God gave Jesus Jour. to us that we could be saved, so why not be saved this Christ mas? Perhaps in the past Christ mas has meant only bells, trees, holly and snow', but you seldom thought of Jesus, wdio was sent to die for ymu. If ymu have ac cepted Christ then it means a lot more to you, for it means He is first in everything and as w’e approach the Christmas tide may you come over on His side and then the lights on the trees, the holly and everything will be brighter for He gave the 'real Light. As we wrap the gifts we need to think that He gave the first gift, wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you and may God bless you.
