The high school students of Or
ange County Training School elected
Joseph Gotten, a senior, for President
of the Student Council for the school
year 1946-47 in the recent election. ,
Carrie Alston, also a senior, failed
to be elected by only a small number
of votes, thus losing the distinction
of being the first girl to head the or
ganization.

The new president, after thanking
the students for honoring Jijm by
placing upon him tlic responsibilities
of the chief organization of the

the main projects to be promoted by
the Council this year. These follow t
1. To improve the constitution
2. To sponsor Homecoming Queen
3. . To increase the S.tudent Acti-

4. To give Thanksgiving baskets
to tlie needy.
5. To conduct a Cliristmas post-
office and a Christmas party.
6. To give a spring party.

STUDENT COURT
To encourage a greater spirit of
loyalty to the school, to promote finer
and more wholesome relationships and
better social habits, and to make the
school the best place in the education
of the boys and girls, the Student
Council formed n Student Court to
function under the supermsion of Mr,
ft. E. Pickard, director or music;
Miss Julia Caldwell, teacher of social
sciences, and Mr. P. D. Smith, teach
er of vocational agriculture. '
The following students make up they
court: Judge, Johnny Mason, vice-
president of the Council; sergeant at
afms, Iterbert Taylor, Captain of the
Safety Patrol; 8e(}retary, Helen
Stroud; assistant secretary, and
Paulino Hogan.
Bilbo is to be pitied as well as con
demned. ' r

The Choral Club, under the direc
tion of Mr. H. B. Pickard, is attract
ing all high school students who have
talent for singing. The present group
of forty show gr^at enthusiasm, and
nro bcinning to demonstrate music a-
bovo ordinary singing.
In the two programs presented in
the chapel, one before the Parents-
Teachers Association, and the other
before the student assembly, the
Choral Club exhibited more of the
fineness of singing than has been
-poted in recent years at the school,.
With Mr. Pickard directing, and
Mrs. C. A. McDouele accompanying,
the boys and girls are making the
