A Stu dent Directory is a list of the student-body’s names, addresses, and telephone numbers. The Stu dent Council cleared almost $100 and the representatives sold about 500 booklets. There are about 1000 names in it. The Student Directory was last sold two years ago. W.D.N.C.A.S.C. Do you know what it means? It stands for Western District of North Carolina, Association of Student Councils. It sounds inter esting, right? Well, it is and more than ever this year. The reason for that is Grier is co-chairman this year with Ashbrook for the con vention. April 8th and 9th are the big dates for this. Right now, we need students from Grier to let delegates from other schools stay at their homes over night. The students who house people will be respon sible for giving the delegates trans portation to and from Ashbrook. Think it over and talk to your parents. It will be a lot of fun and you will gain a new friend. LEGS, LEGS, LEGS It was finally the time of year when the boys got to show off their legs. Of course, you know what I mean. It was for the March of Dimes. Two boys from each grade level painted their legs and collected money for the M.O.D. The ones that collected the most won the Leg Contest. 1st place went to David McClure with $82.00, 2nd place went to Milton Edwards with $60.00 and third place went to Tommy Sherman with $56.00. YOUR NAME IN PRINT This is for all those deprived persons that never got their names in the Grier Script! We wish we could write out everyone’s name but for lack of space let’s com promise. SIGN HERE Now, how does it look? Proud of it? Well it’s a start. When you get older and become famous your name will be in the paper. You can put it in your scrapbook along with this. HAPPY MOTORING!!! 9th Grade students had better start paying close attention to all those “gas” and “car” commercials on T.V. because soon they’re going to be taking “driversed”!! Yes, it’s true!! Mr. John Kinlaw, 9th Grade P.E. teacher at Grier last year, recently came to talk to the students about drivers education. He explained in detail the different courses that are going to be given. Blanks were then passed out and students were sent back to home room to fill them out. Everyone really appreciated the time and trouble that Mr. Kinlaw went to in order to talk to us!! So teachers get out your crash helmets and nerve tablets!! You never know when you may pass one of us on the road!!! P.T.A. The students at home games have beent excellent except for once, at the Shelby game. We hope the sports manship at the rest of the year continues to be good. TO KNOW I ask myself most every day Why that I should Feel This way To be contented deep inside To want to try all things untried. I think that it must truly be To know there is eternity To know there is a God above To know I have my parent’s love To have a friend and be one too To know that when each day is through The sun will rise again Leaving you the world to win!
