Hopkins posted his fourth shutout of the year for his sixth win. Both pitchers allowed only tv/o hits each. Smithfield's lone run came in the third as Ken Stephenson walked, stole second, and scored on Carlton Cverby's single. Foote relieved Jackson in the fifth and pitched 7 innings of no-hit, no run ball. The Red Devils rallied back frorri a 7-2 deficit to pull it out in the 11th, 7-6, Barry Foote had 3-for-5, and Johnny Creech had 3-for-4 to lead the Red Devil attack. Smithfield had eight hits but couldn't put them together as they could manage only one run, a second inning homerun by Steve Bryant.
