Knight January 26, 1991 (friend) Bay City, Michigan Keith G. Wismer March 12, 1991 (friend) Saginaw, Michigan "...You never enjoy the world aright till the sea itself floweth in your veins, till you are clothed with the heavens and crowned with the stars, and perceive yourself to be the sole heir of the whole world; and more than so, because men are in it who are every one sole heirs as well as you. "Till you can sing and rejoice and delight in God as misers do in gold, and kings in sceptres, you cannot enjoy the world. "Till your spirit filleth the whole world, and the stars are your jewels; till you are as familiar with the ways of God in all ages as with your own walk and table; till you are intimately acquainted with that shady nothing out of which the world was made; till you love men so as to desire their happiness, with a thirst equal to the zeal of your own; till you delight in God for being good to all: you cannot enjoy the world. Teachout, President The Board of Directors of the North Carolina AIDS Service Coalition [NCASC] consists of men and women, gay and non-gay, HIV+ and HIV-. We all have very different backgrounds, very different feelings, and very different objectives. The strength of this Coalition will be built not on our similarities, but on our unique differences, each contributing to the other. We are attentive to the views and needs of all members, whether voting, affiliate or individual. Certainly we will need the help of ALL in keeping the focus of the Coalition representative of the individual needs and feelings of the people who make up the constituency we strive to serve. Regardless of our very separate policies and ethical positions, we must work together to preserve and enhance anonymous HIV testing, to maintain informed consent for HIV testing, to advocate for increased service provision for people with HIV infection and their families, to enhance the HIV prevention education message, to work to secure protection from discrimination on the basis of HIV status, to maintain the pressure that prevents abridgement of confidentiality on the basis of HIV status, and any of the other issues that evolve as our state-wide community confronts the AIDS epidemic. We ask all organizations and individuals who support these ideas to join the North Carolina AIDS Service Coalition. Please call me at 1-800-732-5461 or at 919-675-3 845. Or, write to me at the North Carolina AIDS Service Coalition, P. 0. Box 187, Rocky Point, NC, 28457- 0187.--Excerpted from Leo’s letter of March 29, 1991
