Page 2 Community Connections, June, 1991 National AIDS Lobby Days All over the country from May 25 to June 3, individuals and organizations will be visiting their Senators and Representatives in their district offices to urge action on the HIV-epidemic. The AIDS epidemic continues to spread. Opponents of adequate spending and programs continue to hinder our ability to combat the threat we face. Direct, personal contact with your Representatives and Senators will make an important difference. Members of Congress need to be told that AIDS involves people, people we love and care for, people whose lives must be saved. WNCAP Buddy Training The Western North Carolina AIDS Project is offering Buddy Training on June 17, 19, 25 and 26. Persons who want to become a buddy must commit to. Community Connections is a monthly news publication serving the Southern Appalachian gay and lesbian community, and dedicated to helping improve the lives of lesbians and gay men. Community Connections focuses on the gay/lesbian community and gay/lesbian issues. Gay-related news, commentary, and letters to the editor are welcomed. Letters must be limited to 250 words, and must be signed. Deadline for submission of all materials is the 15th of the month prior to the issue. We reserve the right to select manuscripts and to edit for length, clarity, and pertinence to gay and lesbian issues. The panel will be held at 7 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church (corner of Edwin Place and Charlotte Street in Asheville). We would like to extend this service beyond Buncombe County, but need more help to do so.
